Order!

No matter how many times I read about it, Sirius' death never gets any easier to swallow. He was never my favourite character but he was probably a close second, and it's so frustrating to see him so ruined in this book.

Harry is a complete and utter twit in this book. Which doesn't mean that I wouldn't have done most of what he did. Dumbledore should have told him earlier about the prophecy and that Voldemort might lure him into the Department of Mysteries. But he didn't and Sirius died.

The thing that makes me happiest about this book is how "together" Sirius and Remus are, however you wish to take that. They're just...close, and it's beautiful. Remus telling Sirius to sit down at the table - and you know he's the only one who could ask that, as Sirius does the same to James in the Pensieve memory; buying Harry's present together for Christmas (I would imagine Sirius' money combined with Remus' ability to actually get it, Sirius' idea that it be Defence-related, Remus' that it was a set of books - xD); sparking off each other when they talk with Harry in the fireplace, filling in each other's memories, and how they are in Snape's memory, just such natural friends. That is not to forget how Remus reacts to Sirius' death; though we only see a glimpse of his response, it's acutely painful.

The only way I can get through those scenes is Beyond the Veil, a Sirius/Remus Denial Fic which is so completely and utterly plausible that sometimes I forget it isn't canon. It's also the best piece of fanfiction I have ever read bar none.

Right, HBP and then I'll be ready for Saturday!
