[Sam is sitting in his room not-hiding. He's not-hiding so well that anyone who has come past or knocked or tried to pull him out into the world has given up and left within minutes of receiving no answer. They probably assume he's not there. Or maybe that he killed himself. Who knows with these people

[Since it's about time these two met in person, and Gokudera's kind of not-hiding from people he knows, he happens to run into Sam in a hallways somewhere. He slows as he approaches him, though it only takes a second to recognize him.]

Gokudera? [Because how many teenagers does he know with silver-hair, really?] Hey. How are you?

[He pauses to get out and light a cigarette.]

Why aren't you at the party?

Too many people. Not really my thing. [He refrains from pointing out that Gokudera is too young to smoke. It's none of his business anyways.]

What about you?

Same. I've got my hands full as it is taking care of someone from home.

Yeah, along with a million other fucking people who I don't actually know.

These people aren't here to stay. They don't fit the pattern.

Because there are so many of them coming through at the same time? [He had noticed that there were a lot more people around than normal, but Sam hadn't been here long enough to know if that was normal or not.]

But they haven't been using the network. When you arrived, you got a communication device right? Everyone gets one.

For the people who are getting to see people they haven't seen since they were home. It'll be sad when they have to leave, especially since they won't even remember to miss us.

[He's quiet a minute, then rubs an eye with the heel of one hand.]

I guess. It's better that way, though. Having people you care about here makes things complicated.

[Sam remembers Dean, who he hasn't spoken to in weeks, and Cas, who seems happy just being around Dean (from what he's been told at least since he doesn't see the angel much either).]

It always does, even on the other side.
