job: we hired an outside development director. for the best all around, although MAN! i could've used the extra money. but i do NOT have the patience to work with the board and be a shmoozer. i do want to learn more about grantwriting and fundraising, though and to that end, i've applied for a scholarship-membership to the Northwest Development Officers Association AND I'm planning on taking a grants class through the Grantsmanship Center.
i have a review coming up and will try to get a raise and/or the tuition for the grants class.
housing: i found a shared house! in my old 'hood near Ezell's. we have the bottom half and most of the basement of a cute old house. there's a smallish, fenced yard for the little man. and a nice roomie with whom i think i'll get along. also, she's fine with the Madison-craziness, so that was a big factor. all for less than my current rent. woohoo! i start moving in on the 15th. i'm also a wee bit nervous about having a roommate after flying solo for 5 years, but i think it'll be fine and actually good for me.
other life stuff: i'm going to take at least one class this fall at SCCC and start being a student again. i'm excited and nervous. i had a brief online flirtation but then we met in person and there was just nil in the attraction department. i'm taking a stay-cation the week before my birthday. I hope to take a small camping trip during that time, but may not have the time or money due to the move.
also, i'm wearing a very cute, vintage, pale aqua sundress with bright, shiny red shoes and that makes me happy.
