All right, I confess, I'm back in Cape Town and more or less back on LJ. The LJ part took a while because things kept happening. Augh.
Something rather like catching up on past posts ought to happen over the next few days. For now, MEME. Those make everything better.
Ask me about any character I know, and I will answer one or more of the

a) a fact about them from my personal canon - She never heard the word 'mafia' until she was 13, and Mukuro found her.
b) a reason he/she is amazing - She can be so certain of herself, though she's young and has been so mistreated. There's a lot of strength in her.
c) a thing that I'd like to see happen to them - a fight against Mukuro. Even if it's just for a moment, I'd be absolutely fascinated to see her choose to go against him, and what would drive her to it, and how it could even happen. (Spade's contribution to the plot just might lead there, and even if it's not quite the way I want it - obviously she can't really choose if she's possessed - it'd still be wonderful to see.)
d) a person that I might ship that character with and why. - Ken. He's got a bit of a possessive tsundere vibe going on - he reacted when Chrome kissed Tsuna, and the anime crew seriously push Ken-->Chrome, and she treats him so calmly and plainly in return that it's funny and cute. Although I also suspects that she thinks of him as the pet dog she never got to have.
Top three concepts for Chrome:
1. It's not just that she's socially awkward, she genuinely doesn't want, need, or understand people all that much. She has a lot of love, and she does need love from others and appreciates it deeply - but I think of her as someone who'd value a touch on the shoulder as much as a hug, or a "thinking of you" postcard as much as someone turning up on her doorstep to surprise her.
2. She's creepy. In an adorable way. There were Valentines Day extras with a manga chapter once, and in Chrome's she gave Mukuro chocolate in a manner similar to how tributes are given to the dead. And Mukuro's going "ERM ... CHROME, ISN'T THAT A LITTLE..." I like to think she totally freaked him out and has the ability to do this with all others. :D
3. Distance. Physical distance, mostly, because it strikes me that Kokuyo Land is well-removed from Namimori. The choice to continue staying at that inconvenient locale (since she has a lot of business in Namimori) says a lot about her, and at the very least, it means something for the logistics of the fic since she can't just turn up among the other guardians that easily.
