I was looking back over early chapters of KHR, and... Damn, Haru got just about the worst possible introduction she could have had. How unutterably creepy that was! Usually I think Amano has a good bit of her story (characters and plot) planned out in advance, but the difference between that and Haru as she is now makes me wonder. Lots. Although I guess my theory that Haru would be a raging sex machine if ever she got over her prudish side is validated.
And fic recs. Yuugiou fandom has made me happy recently.

bakura/yugi. a what if au fic. takes place after the series end. yugi moves in with ryou, but what if not all the ghosts have been laid to rest?
This fic is SO MEAN and I love it. I sort of feel this is what *ought* to be true for Yuugi, though he's one of those One True Jesus shounen protagonists who will magically make everything okay. And the prose nails that sparse-and-shocking style that so many try for and end up making boring.

High School Musical/Yuugiou. :D Did I not mention falling in love with HSM in the holidays? Oh, well, shame, who needs it, I totally see where the 10-year-olds are coming from (sob). The movies are so camp they're amazing, the fandomsecrets for Ryan a couple of some days back made me foolishly happy, etc etc etc.
Anyway, actual fic: It's so cheesy and cute. HSM and YGO are actually a good match that way. This starts off a little slow, but halfway through I fold up laughing and everything is golden. Musical World would be a great place to visit.
