As a general rule, the Aburame tend to disturb the Hyuuga.
"That's gross!" Hanabi shrieked, her wonderfully developed eyes wide as they followed the bugs around Shino's chakra channels.
And so Hinata had barely sat down at the lunch meant to introduce her teammates to her family before they were kicked out. While Hinata was not surprised to learn the extent of her influence in her home, she did wish, very much, that Shino had been out of hearing distance of Hanabi. It would also be nice if she managed not to cry from embarrassment before she could apologise.
In an unspoken compromise, Shino kept to himself and let Kiba put a comforting arm around Hinata's shoulders as she stammered out an apology. Shino even managed to exude a faintly imperious, offended air to be apologised to. It reminded Hinata of Neji, but she managed to let the resultant terror hurl her past tears, and straight to gabbling out her words.
"Hanabi's very young, and even though she's so strong she can be just a little girl too. And she's never seen someone from your clan before, since she mostly has to stay home--"
"Jeez, that must suck," Kiba said, well aware that both his teammates were as uncomfortable as hell. "Stuck inside all day. You're lucky you get to train with us!"
"The Hyuuga complex is massive," Shino observed. "I'm sure it's not much of an inconvenience to stay there."
"Yes," Hinata sniffled. "We get introduced to people on certain days ... and the g-gardens are big ... I would have showed them to you..."
"Sorry Hinata, but that wouldn't have worked out anyway. Show Akamaru a flowerbed and he just has to dig."
Akamaru whined at this slander, but recognised that it was for a good cause, and he felt that it was all made up for when Hinata scratched him under the chin. For the boys, the same could be said when Hinata offered to treat them to lunch.
"You don't have to do that," Shino said.
"You keep forgetting, Shino, that you're not the leader around here! And all I got at our lunch was a piece of watermelon, so I say we're eating!" Hey, the Hyuuga were rich as well as squeamish; Hinata could afford it. Kiba marched on, chalking up his good deed for the day as 'keeping the team together'.
Shino offered Hinata a shrug as they followed Kiba. Finally she relaxed, sure that she he couldn't have been very offended after all; because, since she was a Hyuuga, she saw him smile as well.
