AU Exchange letter
Thank you for checking out this letter! I have a bunch of ideas and suggestions below. Take them as guidelines, rather than as things that Must Be Present in whatever you create - even if something sounds so insistent, it really is meant as a possibility. I'm interested in and satisfied with a wide variety of things in fanworks, and as long as things on my "Please do not include" list are avoided, it's all good.
Please do not include:
- rape
- zombie apocalypses
- tragic/grim/downer/unhappy endings. Bittersweet is fine, as long as there's hope to it.
- Daddy/mommy kink within sugar baby AUs.
- sex involving characters under 16. Feel free to age them up.
- Major character death is fine, especially for canons and AUs that invite it (e.g. Mad Max, The Shining AUs, Homestuck, Lost Boys). But I'd prefer if any deaths aren't the culmination of the story - so, preferably no Rocks Falls Everybody Dies, or someone being lingeringly sick until finally they pass away at the end. Also, I'd prefer that whoever is the main character in the fanwork doesn't die.
- Fanart that breaks the fourth wall. Basically, the characters depicted as looking at the viewer.
- Homestuck: AUs resulting in doomed timelines. I am happy to assume the AU leads to a different alpha timeline, don't even need an explanation. Just no contradiction of that idea.
- MCU: Dicks going inside Rocket. Or any sizable penetration happening to him, really.

All: Monster girl/boy
If Capable/Nux, I'd prefer an AU with no "wives" - the characters can exist (please!), but without ever having been imprisoned by Immortan Joe. It can be a whole other setting. If Vuvalini/War Boys, that would fit better for me in the canon setting, but can also be a different one. I'd like obvious monster signifiers rather than "appears to be a normal woman, then reveals true nature". Extra eyes, limbs, snake hair, claws, breathe fire, spin webs, etc. etc.
ALL: Jello Wrestling Championships
...I just think they'd have fun. Well, maybe not all the Wives, for example, but some of them. Something light-hearted!
ALL: Con Artist AU
Preference here for the Wives to all be part of the same team, and ditto for the Vuvalini - they can run cons on other people, but I'd prefer the cons not to be within the groups. Vuvalini & War Boys can be one group vs the other, or a weird collusion could be fun too.
ALL: Different first meeting
One or two of The Dag/Angharad/Toast became a War Boy like Furiosa instead of a wife and met others differently, the Vuvalini and War Boys ran into each other well before the war party had reason to set out on the Fury Road, Immortan Joe bestowed some honour on Nux and through that, Nux met Capable while they both still lived in Citadel... Or anything else you can think of!
ALL: Homestuck AU
Honestly, "fuck 'em up" is my starting point. Homestuck's free range death and OTT mayhem reminds me a little bit of MMFR. Perhaps there is a remnant of Sburb to be found out in the Wasteland, and now the characters can play a game to get to a new universe ... eventually ... maybe. (If the Vuvalini are present I'd love if some of them were players, or NPCs who gain some powers, like PM did.) Or the Wasteland looks very different because carapacians came along years ago, deeply determined to build more of a civilisation than the humans had managed to. Maybe the greatest find any Wastelander can have is when they figure out what obscure nonsense opens someone's goddamn sylladex so they can get all the good stuff out of it.
ALL: Ageswap AU
Young Vuvalini and a bunch of haggard old War Boys is an appealing image. Are the Vuvalini a scouting party from a long-standing, thriving settlement? Have the War Boys outlived Joe, and perhaps his sons too? Is young Furiosa an idealist that reminds hardened Angharad of how she used to be, or does the Old Splendid firebrand bring tough young Furiosa to softer thoughts? Is Cheedo still "the Fragile" by the time the Dag meets her (or is the younger girl not strange enough yet to be called "the Dag"?)
ALL: Fifth Element AU
The joys of OTT mayhem again! Furiosa as Korben? Or Toast, or Max? The Dag as diva Plavalaguna? Nux as Ruby Rhod? Every single Vuvalini as Ruby Rhod. Angharad or Cheedo or Capable as Leeloo? I am open to any kind of fusion casting and glorious ridiculousness.
ALL: Canon Divergence AU
Angharad lives and is recaptured by Joe - but the escapees don't want to leave her with him. Angharad doesn't fall - how do they escape Joe without the delay brought on by her death? DO they escape, or do they wangle victory some other way? Capable doesn't find Nux in the lookout - how does her perspective on him change if someone else does, or if he reveals himself later? They choose to ride out across the salt flats and come across some very strange things. The Vuvalini's water and land never turned sour and the Green Place is thriving. ...And so on, anything goes!

X-Men (AT): Everybody survives the woods confrontation
Stupidly happy ending ahoy, please. Basically a lot of hugging would satisfy me, because I just wanted Erik to get a break for a lot of this movie! But also, going into family drama complications would be great too. I'd love Magda there too. And perhaps Peter's mother and other siblings. Also, Charles and Hank's reaction to Erik Lehnsherr, chilled-out family man, would be great to see.
ALL: Revolt
Kurt and Angel revolting in the cage matches and breaking free! Or maybe Peter trying to keep Nina safe during some revolution against En Sabah Nur, who managed to get to the point of ruling the world. Or Erik struggling with wanting to take part in a revolt but really, really wanting to take care of his family, now feat. new son. (Again, Magda and the rest of Peter's family is welcome.)
ALL: Peacock Spider Mating Dance AU
I think I'd slightly prefer Angel doing the dancing. But either way, the mental images remain delightful.

X-Men (AT): Nina as a Horseman
What kind of animals would she call out to with En Sabah Nur's power-up? How do the other Horsemen relate to her, and what happens to the one that gets replaced? If someone convinces her to come back to the good side, who is it?
X-Men (AT): Peter raises Nina after Erik and Magda die in the woods confrontation
This is the best worst idea. I'd just love Peter growing up that much further to help out his half-sister, and Nina growing to trust this dude she doesn't know but who wants to be there for her, and is almost always willing to listen to stories about her father. Plenty of hugs would be nice here too. Or: skip ahead to the less fraught part and show them having fun with their powers together, because I love it when X-Men get to enjoy their powers.
ALL: Forced to summon a demon
Instead of cage matches, dicey people want Angel to summon a demon! For some reason. Is Nightcrawler actually a sweetheart or is something more traditionally horrific lurking under the surface? Or Nina being under duress and summoning a demon instead of animals, which no one actually knew she could do.
ALL: Kept as a pet
Preferably no sex involved, please. I'd like an element of a mutant being treated as lesser in this way, and going with it because it's kinder than what else they might be subjected to, until someone else in my requested groupings comes along and rescues them.
All: Golden Age of Hollywood
Mutants finding a place doing SFX and certain roles in early Hollywood. How tired are Angel and Kurt of being stereotyped? Is Nina the behind-the-scenes hero of all the little kids who love to watch cute animal companions cavort happily across the screen? Erik is hiding in plain sight, so famous in Hollywood he couldn't POSSIBLY have been that one guy who was leading shady mutant organisations? Peter ... is probably still doing his usual Peter things.

The gang could be a werewolf pack instead of vampires, or perhaps there are werewolves around and complicating the process of absorbing the Emersons into the vampire gang. Maybe the Emersons are werewolves! Maybe only Nanook is, and one day he goes "hi" and the family yells for an hour straight.

ALL: Mad Max AU
Vampires in that brutally bright world would just be great, all colourfully vicious and in love with leather. They'd fit right in - except for having to try really hard to keep the sun out. Maybe their gear would be more like the Buzzards'. Would vampires be almost ordinary in this dangerous world, enough that they team up with some humans without turning them? Also, how would the Emersons keep Nanook from overheating?
All: Western AU
Supernatural elements can still be present or not. I'd just love Lucy trying to run a homestead, and Michael being tempted away to an outlaw band, probably as coyotes howl eerily. Or maybe the vampires run some isolated but prosperous town, and the Emersons are the outlaws stumbling into something stranger than they were prepared for (except Grandpa).

MCU: Jane keeps and wields the Aether
I'd love to see this as a post-TDW thing. Maybe people helping her learn how to control the Aether, maybe the Aether really liking her in its own (sometimes distressing) infinity stone way and teaching her how to use it, maybe some part-time superheroics. I'd also be into an AU where she's had the Aether for ages - possibly since the first time she stayed in London with her mother.
ALL: Characters as Homestuck Trolls
How do the characters translate into trolls born of Alternia's brutal slapstick dystopia? Revenge cycles, escapees from the system, all kinds of new powers! Would Meredith be Peter's lusus, ancestor, or a friendly ghost? Who modified Rocket so godawfully?
ALL: Homestuck AU
Time to play Sburb! Feel free to keep the characters the ages they are in canon, or to have them much younger so that Sburb's "coming of age" themes could still work. Which could also mean some interesting interactions with e.g. young Yondu + young Gamora, and kid Peter, the only one who's played video games, trying to herd everyone else into playing better. Or perhaps kid Peter vs. kid Darcy regarding the best game strategy.

ALL: Werewolves
Feel free to draw from any werewolf lore, or make it up. I'd prefer everyone to be wolves rather than other wereanimals featuring, and would appreciate "pack bonding" type stuff. But maybe some of them can be the creepy kind of werewolves, where the wolf is an uncontrollable force taking over from outside, a curse of ravenousness, and others can be a stable kind that can control themselves pretty well. Werewolves in space also bring that question of what kind of moons affect them, exactly.
ALL: Con Artist AU
This is pretty standard for most of the GOTG characters, but I'd love to see Meredith and Peter as a con artist team, and this with Jane and/or Darcy would be amazing. Jane would be interesting as a con artist because she really doesn't seem the type, and Darcy might find it all too easy ... until she figures out how fond she is of Jane.
ALL: Mirror Universe
Everybody and everything being more evil, or at least a darker shade of morally grey. MU is exempt from rape/unhappy endings DNWs because somehow it makes my squicks A-OK. Maybe Mirror Meredith called Peter "Star-Lord" because that was literally her plan for him; gonna rule the stars, baby. What would her soundtrack be like? Mirror Jane being majorly maltreated because of her "crackpot" theories, and getting her own back. Guardians who are even more morally ambiguous than canon and don't trust each other at all, and find it astounding when a speck of trust does sneak in.
ALL: Dead character is resurrected
My favourite candidates would be Meredith or Yondu. I'd love something that went into this as a quest, how it would be accomplished and why/how the living characters started it. Or maybe it's the dead character(s) going on the quest to get back to life.
ALL: Sugar Baby AU
One side of the ship gets the goods and enjoys the hell out of being lavishly spoiled, the other side gets real joy out of showering the other with a bunch of great gifts and needful things. And then there are the downsides, where one assumes the money is the only reason the other stays, while the sugar baby sometimes pushes their limits to ensure that they stay a worthwhile investment.
If doing this with Jane/Darcy, the gifts might not be that lavish and extravagant, but wooing a sugar baby via, like, buying her favoured breakfast cereal and really nice coffees would also be great.

ALL: Character Is Resurrected But Came Back Wrong
I'd love the Wrong to be a creeping feeling rather than something overt and immediate. Meredith and Yondu are great candidates. Or maybe it's a whole bunch of characters! Everybody who Ronan and Nebula killed at the Kyln. They're back! And it would frankly be more reassuring if they wanted vengeance because what they're actually up to is really weird! Or maybe it's rather that there's a passenger that came with the resurrected character. Hello, Killmonger/Hela/???. The celestial's head that makes up Knowhere came back to life, that was strange enough, but then people start suspecting it came back wrong. Jane dies but comes back ... but Darcy has unsettling suspicions (or vice versa).

All: Space Hooker AU
There is a particular series of KHR merch images that manage to make the Vongola guardians look like gigolos who absolutely love their job (except for Hibari, who instead looks like a Disney Princess as he hangs out with small animals). Ever since then I have wanted something along those lines, and putting it In Space is even better. With the other characters I'm more open to angst about the whole space sex deal, but mostly I'd like entertaining weirdness with some hot xeno. Perhaps they're trying to get the money to make it back to Earth? Perhaps they are aliens too. How badly would G/Giotto freak out about being ported from 1800s-ish Italy to space?
ALL: Apocalypse/Survival
All: Post-Apocalypse
I'd love to see them try and figure out how to survive together. Like the Millefiore Arc, but without the pre-prepared base. I see Apocalypse/Survival as being in the immediate aftermath, and Post-Apocalypse as enough time later to have developed stable routines, maybe settlements. Either works for me.
ALL: Dog Walkers AU
I find something really funny/endearing about imagining G and Giotto as dog-walkers - they're such large-looming figures in canon I think it's just nice to see them doing something low-key. I'd also love a Simon vs. Vongola business rivalry, or for some of these characters to try and get in on cat-walking too, just because they like cats better.
KHR: Someone else is the Vongola 10th gen boss
Any of the non-Tsuna solo characters on my list being trained as Vongola boss would be great. Other possibilities I'd enjoy: Ryohei, Spanner, Iemitsu, Bianchi, Reborn, Yamamoto.
ALL: Werewolves
Instead of mafia, werewolves! Or maybe werewolf mafia. Feel free to draw from any werewolf lore, or make it up. I'd prefer mostly wolves, but a couple of the characters being other wereanimals would be great, especially werehyaenas Chrome and Mukuro.
ALL: Fifth Element AU
Go nuts. That's what both KHR and 5th Element invite. I'd be into the "fifth element is love" moment being passionate comradely friendship as per the KHR way, but romantic love works too.
All: Threesomes are socially ideal form of relationship
I'd love to see Reborn's machinations with regards to this - is Tsuna going to be neatly sandwiched between Haru and Kyoko, or is Reborn encouraging Gokudera and Yamamoto to fight for third spot rather than one of the girls? Are Lal and Colonello looking at the other Arcobaleno and going "yes, we're close, but ..... NOT THEM" most of the time? Is Shittopi in love with herself to the point that it counts as enough of a third person that she and her partner are fulfilled?
ALL: Characters as Homestuck Trolls
How do the characters translate into trolls born of Alternia's brutal slapstick dystopia? Revenge cycles, escapees from the system, all kinds of new powers! Or maybe some of them are actually Beforans who came over via trans-dimensional glitch, which accounts for the civilian vs. mafia split in the characters.
ALL: Homestuck AU
Time to play Sburb! Time for KIDS AND FUN, AKA murder and mayhem. I'd love plucky WSJ "I want to save everyone" sensibilities go up against Homestuck's, where the characters are worn into accepting mass-scale destruction or just accept it without much questioning.
ALL: Demon AU
Anyone can be the demon, whether the more obvious (Lal Mirch, all those red-eyed Simon kids, Chrome), or the sweeter ones (Kyoko, Tsuna). I love it when they're more unsettling than outright evil.
All: The Shining AU
ALL: Snowed in at a Haunted Hotel
With the Shining influence, things gotta get really bad, and I am here for disturbing ghostly visions bleeding into life and digging too dangerously deeply into the characters. With the less specific AU, I don't mind if the haunting is less vicious - maybe the ghosts are melancholy, or lure travellers in with gentle warmth before they end up gently killing them, or it's simply a beautiful old memory that plays out for you once you stop being scared.
All: Canonically male character is always-a-girl
ALL: Genderswap AU
With KHR I appreciate divergent things in genderswaps: One is when the genre constraints are loosened or changed and the characters get to have mostly unimpeded adventures, though treated differently in some situations and by some people due to the different gender identity. The other is when things hew closer to canon, and there's a bit of examination about how KHR's female characters generally have a narrower field they get to move in. E.g. would girl Tsuna be encouraged to marry into the Vongola rather than being a boss? Etc.
Homestuck: Mary Jane Edition (Fanart, Fanfiction)

ALL: Boarding school
A highblood who doesn't fit in and a heiress who is not really all that stuck up go to an elite boarding school and start a sneaky romance. (Or genderswap them any which way to get them in the same boarding house, I'd be cool with that.)
All: literal Fight Club
He's strong and violent, she's strong and deeply repressed ... time to let off some steam. I'd prefer this not to be much of a fusion with the book/movie, just to be about a fight club.

Misunderstandings as they don't realise they're soulmates ... until they learn about the different kinds of markers.
All: One Specific Demographic has soulmates while others don't
Troll serendipity is more hardwired than in canon, and they have certain signs that indicate Yes This Is Your Actual Soulmate. Humans don't. Hijinks ensue.
ALL: One Specific Demographic Has Heat Cycles
Whether Life Heroes go into heat or trolls do, I'm here for it either way. Especially if there's a period of suffering in silence.
ALL: Werewolves
I'd love it if Gamzee was the kind of werewolf where the transformation is an uncontrollable force taking over from outside, a curse of ravenousness, while Jane is from an old and stable werewolf family, with plenty of rituals and rules, that has things perfectly on lock and only lose control if provoked somehow. Then they stumble across each other and something wild inside reaches out...
All: Clue Fusion
Jane trying to figure out who killed poor Dr Black, and where, and with what implement. The Homestuck characters come colour-coded, so this could work nicely with Clue! Speaking of, that might mean Dr Black is one of those monster judges like Mindfang killed, since I'm pretty sure I remembered that one had black blood. I'd love that. And is Gamzee Professor Plum? Because that would probably be the first thing to raise suspicions.
Edit: I just realised this might be referring to the movie! I was thinking of the board game. I would be on board with a movie-based fusion, but can't remember it well enough to prompt specifically in that direction.
ALL: Different First Meeting - Captured by Slavers
DRAMA. I don't mind who the slavers are - adult trolls? Adult cherubs? - but I'd love mistrust turning into desperate bonding and trying to protect each other. And then an escape together.
ALL: Public sex is normal
Gratuitous porn prompt. Maybe with a side of culture clash, where one of them doesn't have it as a norm? Or maybe they purposefully visit someplace on Earth C together where that's the practice, and they spend a vacation comfortably all over each other, everywhere.
ALL: Characters met as children
Condesce brings a clown to earth to hang out with her heiress. Weird, fraught, possibly enforced bonding results.
ALL: Flower Smuggling AU
This immediately brought an adorable image into my mind of the characters with flowers bursting out of their trench coats/bags/hair as they try and inconspicuously sneak them away from scrutiny. The maid of life is determined to preserve these gorgeous signs of earth's bounty! Gamzee likes the colours a lot and figures he could probably eat the plants if the mood struck him! TOGETHER THEY SMUGGLE FLOWERS.
All: Threesomes are socially ideal form of relationship
They do interviews for a third person to join them/put feelers out among their friend group. I'd like two possible things out of this: Gamzee/Jane deciding to go against the tenets of society because they're perfectly happy just as they are, all fun romantic cheesiness. Or, outside POV on how this odd couple works, with the new third person/potential third scoping them out.
Options I like: Tavros (or Gcatavrosprite), Dirk, Roxy, Dave, Davepetasprite^2 (who I enjoy blackromwise with Gamzee).
ALL: One Is A Librarian And The Other Is A Ghost And Together They Fight Crime AU
Jane the deeply sceptical librarian who takes so long to decide she's willing to believe that there is a ghost that the signs of haunting kind of bypass scaring her, but once she realises that they're clues to a murder, is raring to help the ghost bring the killer to justice. Or Gamzee the zoned-out librarian who seems to know nothing until you realise he probably knows more than you're fully comfortable with. He definitely believes there's a ghost and gets lots of gossip from her. It's anyone's guess if he'll actually do something about it ... until it comes out that she kind of wants to wreak vengeance on evil-doers.
ALL: Power Swap AU
A Gamzee of Life, a Jane of Rage. Or maybe they swap classes instead!
ALL: Ballroom Dance AU
Swank clothes and steering each other across the dance floor. Gamzee's supposed to be leading but Jane doesn't care about that at all and he barely remembers to. It might be driving the instructor nuts but together they will change the ballroom system! Or just have a good time.
ALL: Bakery AU
They're made for it. I am impressed that Gamzee was eating his bedding but still got so far as to use actual pie tins for this terrible decision. True baker's instincts! Jane needs to break away from the bad press surrounding Crocker Corp and wants to get used to baking her own way. They become business rivals or partners. Or both.

Jade has the Three in the Morning Dress, I had to request this one! Maybe in this AU EVERYONE swans around in that dress, or in equivalent late-night-at-the-jazz-lounge elegant outfits. I'd love something atmospheric; that slightly seasick feeling of staying out late, the comfort of making it home after a long night, getting your second wind, the bite of cold air as you go from one location to the next ... all that kind of thing. Or maybe the characters travel to someplace where the sun never sets, so they can experience a whole other kind of 3AM.

Homestuck: Human society worldbuilding taken more seriously
Not that seriously. But: "Though it was thirteen years ago he was given life, it is only today he will be given a name!" (here) and also "You cannot enter her name!!! It was already engraved in her HONORARY PLACRONYM on her 13th birthday [...] Attempting to engrave it with another name after completing this sacred rite of passage is practically unheard of, and is a gesture nearly as offensive as it would be if you tried to name her something dumb like Barnstench Fartface. If that were legit a thing it would be interestingly odd. What is this society like? How would Jake, Dirk and Roxy's naming work in their isolation? Does Dad feel the pressure of coming up with a good, solid name for his beloved child? (Even more optional: I headcanon Dad as being adopted, which I think could also be interesting in terms of this AU.) Also, anything about how sylladices and strife decks work in a "practical" way could be fun.

ALL: The Bone Wars/Rival Paleontologists AU
What with Dave's interest in dead things and digging up jpeg artefacts, this seemed so right. And there's Aradia and Eridan with their interests in history, and Equius could be into ancient art, and the future alpha kids being into the relics of the past. I could see all of them as people ready to break new ground and look for connections to the past, come what may.
And then too, there are a lot of ridiculous characters who could totally get into a Bone Wars situation, willing to do anything to undermine each other and get the better find, even if it means destroying the rival's. I'd like this with the trolls especially, or for the alpha kids as long as they become friends in the end.
ALL: Character A is a huge celebrity Character B couldn't care less
Jade doesn't care about Dave being a hotshot movie director. Roxy is totally going to ignore this Crocker Corp heiress, except ... oh no ... she really wants to be bffsies now that she's go to know her! Quick, guys, how does she handle this. Karkat is a mutant but manages to stay alive in the empire because his movie-writing is great, but remains isolated until Gamzee comes along and doesn't care in the least about the fame or the notoriety. And so on, in classic romcom manner. (Friendship-com is definitely good too.)
ALL: Character Accidentally Possesses Their Ancestor
Gamzee takes over the Grand Highblood! Does he try and stay undetected, or is he feeling pissed off at Kurloz and he decides to take it out on the GHB? Roxy and/or Dirk end up steering Dave and Rose's bodies around, and it's depressing they can't talk to their mom/bro, but they could actually try and get to Jake and Jane now. Pushing the definition of "ancestor": Dave possessing Bro/Jade possessing Grandpa would be such a unique mindfuck I don't know what would come of it, but probably they could help each other feel better about it. Aradia in the Handmaid, Sollux in the Helmsman: who has the worst time of it? This is great with all the beta trolls really.
ALL: Sugar Baby AU
One side of the ship gets the goods and enjoys the hell out of being lavishly spoiled, the other side gets real joy out of showering the other with a bunch of great gifts and needful things. And then there are the downsides, where one assumes the money is the only reason the other stays, while the sugar baby sometimes pushes their limits to ensure that they stay a worthwhile investment.

With the Shining influence, things gotta get really bad, and I am here for disturbing ghostly visions bleeding into life and digging too dangerously deeply into the characters. With the less specific AU, I don't mind if the haunting is less vicious - maybe the ghosts are melancholy, or lure travellers in with gentle warmth before they end up gently killing them, or it's simply a beautiful old memory that plays out for you once you stop being scared.

So the alpha trolls come from a background that shares a trait with the Federation in terms of how the government is supposed to look out for everyone, acting in the best interests of society. Plenty of them were also dreadful at it on Beforus, and it makes me want to see how bad and good these trolls would be at the Star Trek universe. Feel free to subvert ideas, upend the plot, and possibly go parodic - like, would the characters even make it through the demands of the Academy in order to get to the more action-movie parts of the story where they have a better chance of excelling?
Even more optional: Cronus/Meenah/Mituna as Kirk, because according to backstory each of them felt like they had a certain destiny attached to them - and Meenah even resisted hers like Kirk. Kurloz as Spock, trying to destroy his rage.
ALL: Werewolves
Feel free to draw from any werewolf lore, or make it up. I'd prefer all wolves, rather than other wereanimals, and would appreciate some "pack bonding" type stuff. But maybe some of them can be the creepy kind of werewolves, where the wolf is an uncontrollable force taking over from outside, a curse of ravenousness, and others can be a stable kind that can control themselves pretty well.
ALL: Pirates of the Caribbean Fusion
They'd probably be a whole lot better at this plot! I'd love this to just be an adventurous romp. Feel free to plug the characters into straightforward or odd roles. I'd prefer focus on the first movie or the fourth (the mermaid/priest thing could work well with sea dweller/land dweller), but a mashup of installments could be fun. I haven't seen the fifth movie, though.

Honestly, "fuck 'em up" is my starting point. Homestuck's free range death and OTT mayhem reminds me a little bit of MMFR. Perhaps there is a remnant of Sburb to be found out in the Wasteland, and now the characters can play a game to get to a new universe ... eventually ... maybe. (If the Vuvalini are present I'd love if some of them were players, or NPCs who gain some powers, like PM did.) Or the Wasteland looks very different because carapacians came along years ago, deeply determined to build more of a civilisation than the humans had managed to. Maybe the greatest find any Wastelander can have is when they figure out what obscure nonsense opens someone's goddamn sylladex so they can get all the good stuff out of it.

Young Vuvalini and a bunch of haggard old War Boys is an appealing image. Are the Vuvalini a scouting party from a long-standing, thriving settlement? Have the War Boys outlived Joe, and perhaps his sons too? Is young Furiosa an idealist that reminds hardened Angharad of how she used to be, or does the Old Splendid firebrand bring tough young Furiosa to softer thoughts? Is Cheedo still "the Fragile" by the time the Dag meets her (or is the younger girl not strange enough yet to be called "the Dag"?)
ALL: Fifth Element AU
The joys of OTT mayhem again! Furiosa as Korben? Or Toast, or Max? The Dag as diva Plavalaguna? Nux as Ruby Rhod? Every single Vuvalini as Ruby Rhod. Angharad or Cheedo or Capable as Leeloo? I am open to any kind of fusion casting and glorious ridiculousness.
ALL: Canon Divergence AU
Angharad lives and is recaptured by Joe - but the escapees don't want to leave her with him. Angharad doesn't fall - how do they escape Joe without the delay brought on by her death? DO they escape, or do they wangle victory some other way? Capable doesn't find Nux in the lookout - how does her perspective on him change if someone else does, or if he reveals himself later? They choose to ride out across the salt flats and come across some very strange things. The Vuvalini's water and land never turned sour and the Green Place is thriving. ...And so on, anything goes!

This is the best worst idea. I'd just love Peter growing up that much further to help out his half-sister, and Nina growing to trust this dude she doesn't know but who wants to be there for her, and is almost always willing to listen to stories about her father. Plenty of hugs would be nice here too. Or: skip ahead to the less fraught part and show them having fun with their powers together, because I love it when X-Men get to enjoy their powers.

Instead of cage matches, dicey people want Angel to summon a demon! For some reason. Is Nightcrawler actually a sweetheart or is something more traditionally horrific lurking under the surface? Or Nina being under duress and summoning a demon instead of animals, which no one actually knew she could do.

Everybody and everything being more evil, or at least a darker shade of morally grey. MU is exempt from rape/unhappy endings DNWs because somehow it makes my squicks A-OK. Maybe Mirror Meredith called Peter "Star-Lord" because that was literally her plan for him; gonna rule the stars, baby. What would her soundtrack be like? Mirror Jane being majorly maltreated because of her "crackpot" theories, and getting her own back. Guardians who are even more morally ambiguous than canon and don't trust each other at all, and find it astounding when a speck of trust does sneak in.
ALL: Dead character is resurrected
My favourite candidates would be Meredith or Yondu. I'd love something that went into this as a quest, how it would be accomplished and why/how the living characters started it. Or maybe it's the dead character(s) going on the quest to get back to life.

I'd love the Wrong to be a creeping feeling rather than something overt and immediate. Meredith and Yondu are great candidates. Or maybe it's a whole bunch of characters! Everybody who Ronan and Nebula killed at the Kyln. They're back! And it would frankly be more reassuring if they wanted vengeance because what they're actually up to is really weird! Or maybe it's rather that there's a passenger that came with the resurrected character. Hello, Killmonger/Hela/???. The celestial's head that makes up Knowhere came back to life, that was strange enough, but then people start suspecting it came back wrong. Jane dies but comes back ... but Darcy has unsettling suspicions (or vice versa).

Ever since then I have wanted something along those lines, and putting it In Space is even better. With the other characters I'm more open to angst about the whole space sex deal, but mostly I'd like entertaining weirdness with some hot xeno. Perhaps they're trying to get the money to make it back to Earth? Perhaps they are aliens too. How badly would G/Giotto freak out about being ported from 1800s-ish Italy to space?

I'd love to see them try and figure out how to survive together. Like the Millefiore Arc, but without the pre-prepared base. I see Apocalypse/Survival as being in the immediate aftermath, and Post-Apocalypse as enough time later to have developed stable routines, maybe settlements. Either works for me.

I find something really funny/endearing about imagining G and Giotto as dog-walkers - they're such large-looming figures in canon I think it's just nice to see them doing something low-key. Anyone can be the demon, whether the more obvious (Lal Mirch, all those red-eyed Simon kids, Chrome), or the sweeter ones (Kyoko, Tsuna). I love it when they're more unsettling than outright evil.
All: The Shining AU
ALL: Snowed in at a Haunted Hotel
With the Shining influence, things gotta get really bad, and I am here for disturbing ghostly visions bleeding into life and digging too dangerously deeply into the characters. With the less specific AU, I don't mind if the haunting is less vicious - maybe the ghosts are melancholy, or lure travellers in with gentle warmth before they end up gently killing them, or it's simply a beautiful old memory that plays out for you once you stop being scared.
All: Canonically male character is always-a-girl
ALL: Genderswap AU
With KHR I appreciate divergent things in genderswaps: One is when the genre constraints are loosened or changed and the characters get to have mostly unimpeded adventures, though treated differently in some situations and by some people due to the different gender identity. The other is when things hew closer to canon, and there's a bit of examination about how KHR's female characters generally have a narrower field they get to move in. E.g. would girl Tsuna be encouraged to marry into the Vongola rather than being a boss? Etc.

He's strong and violent, she's strong and deeply repressed ... time to let off some steam. I'd prefer this not to be much of a fusion with the book/movie, just to be about a fight club.

I'd love it if Gamzee was the kind of werewolf where the transformation is an uncontrollable force taking over from outside, a curse of ravenousness, while Jane is from an old and stable werewolf family, with plenty of rituals and rules, that has things perfectly on lock and only lose control if provoked somehow. Then they stumble across each other and something wild inside reaches out...
All: Clue Fusion
Jane trying to figure out who killed poor Dr Black, and where, and with what implement. The Homestuck characters come colour-coded, so this could work nicely with Clue! Speaking of, that might mean Dr Black is one of those monster judges like Mindfang killed, since I'm pretty sure I remembered that one had black blood. I'd love that. And is Gamzee Professor Plum? Because that would probably be the first thing to raise suspicions.
Edit: I just realised this might be referring to the movie! I was thinking of the board game. I would be on board with a movie-based fusion, but can't remember it well enough to prompt specifically in that direction.
ALL: Different First Meeting - Captured by Slavers
DRAMA. I don't mind who the slavers are - adult trolls? Adult cherubs? - but I'd love mistrust turning into desperate bonding and trying to protect each other. And then an escape together.
ALL: Public sex is normal
Gratuitous porn prompt. Maybe with a side of culture clash, where one of them doesn't have it as a norm? Or maybe they purposefully visit someplace on Earth C together where that's the practice, and they spend a vacation comfortably all over each other, everywhere.
ALL: Characters met as children
Condesce brings a clown to earth to hang out with her heiress. Weird, fraught, possibly enforced bonding results.
ALL: Flower Smuggling AU
This immediately brought an adorable image into my mind of the characters with flowers bursting out of their trench coats/bags/hair as they try and inconspicuously sneak them away from scrutiny. The maid of life is determined to preserve these gorgeous signs of earth's bounty! Gamzee likes the colours a lot and figures he could probably eat the plants if the mood struck him! TOGETHER THEY SMUGGLE FLOWERS.
All: Threesomes are socially ideal form of relationship
They do interviews for a third person to join them/put feelers out among their friend group. I'd like two possible things out of this: Gamzee/Jane deciding to go against the tenets of society because they're perfectly happy just as they are, all fun romantic cheesiness. Or, outside POV on how this odd couple works, with the new third person/potential third scoping them out.
Options I like: Tavros (or Gcatavrosprite), Dirk, Roxy, Dave, Davepetasprite^2 (who I enjoy blackromwise with Gamzee).
ALL: One Is A Librarian And The Other Is A Ghost And Together They Fight Crime AU
Jane the deeply sceptical librarian who takes so long to decide she's willing to believe that there is a ghost that the signs of haunting kind of bypass scaring her, but once she realises that they're clues to a murder, is raring to help the ghost bring the killer to justice. Or Gamzee the zoned-out librarian who seems to know nothing until you realise he probably knows more than you're fully comfortable with. He definitely believes there's a ghost and gets lots of gossip from her. It's anyone's guess if he'll actually do something about it ... until it comes out that she kind of wants to wreak vengeance on evil-doers.
ALL: Power Swap AU
A Gamzee of Life, a Jane of Rage. Or maybe they swap classes instead!
ALL: Ballroom Dance AU
Swank clothes and steering each other across the dance floor. Gamzee's supposed to be leading but Jane doesn't care about that at all and he barely remembers to. It might be driving the instructor nuts but together they will change the ballroom system! Or just have a good time.
ALL: Bakery AU
They're made for it. I am impressed that Gamzee was eating his bedding but still got so far as to use actual pie tins for this terrible decision. True baker's instincts! Jane needs to break away from the bad press surrounding Crocker Corp and wants to get used to baking her own way. They become business rivals or partners. Or both.

Jade has the Three in the Morning Dress, I had to request this one! Maybe in this AU EVERYONE swans around in that dress, or in equivalent late-night-at-the-jazz-lounge elegant outfits. I'd love something atmospheric; that slightly seasick feeling of staying out late, the comfort of making it home after a long night, getting your second wind, the bite of cold air as you go from one location to the next ... all that kind of thing. Or maybe the characters travel to someplace where the sun never sets, so they can experience a whole other kind of 3AM.
Even more optional: I'd be into fanart for this one, too.
Homestuck: Human society worldbuilding taken more seriously
Not that seriously. But: "Though it was thirteen years ago he was given life, it is only today he will be given a name!" (here) and also "You cannot enter her name!!! It was already engraved in her HONORARY PLACRONYM on her 13th birthday [...] Attempting to engrave it with another name after completing this sacred rite of passage is practically unheard of, and is a gesture nearly as offensive as it would be if you tried to name her something dumb like Barnstench Fartface. Luckily she is not the sort to hold a grudge, and she will let it slide this time." (here)
If that were legit a thing it would be interestingly odd. What is this society like? How would Jake, Dirk and Roxy's naming work in their isolation? Does Dad feel the pressure of coming up with a good, solid name for his beloved child? (Even more optional: I headcanon Dad as being adopted, which I think could also be interesting in terms of this AU.) Also, anything about how sylladices and strife decks work in a "practical" way could be fun.

ALL: The Bone Wars/Rival Paleontologists AU
What with Dave's interest in dead things and digging up jpeg artefacts, this seemed so right. And there's Aradia and Eridan with their interests in history, and Equius could be into ancient art, and the future alpha kids being into the relics of the past. I could see all of them as people ready to break new ground and look for connections to the past, come what may.
And then too, there are a lot of ridiculous characters who could totally get into a Bone Wars situation, willing to do anything to undermine each other and get the better find, even if it means destroying the rival's. I'd like this with the trolls especially, or for the alpha kids as long as they become friends in the end.
ALL: Character A is a huge celebrity Character B couldn't care less
Jade doesn't care about Dave being a hotshot movie director. Roxy is totally going to ignore this Crocker Corp heiress, except ... oh no ... she really wants to be bffsies now that she's go to know her! Quick, guys, how does she handle this. Karkat is a mutant but manages to stay alive in the empire because his movie-writing is great, but remains isolated until Gamzee comes along and doesn't care in the least about the fame or the notoriety. And so on, in classic romcom manner. (Friendship-com is definitely good too.)
ALL: Character Accidentally Possesses Their Ancestor
Gamzee takes over the Grand Highblood! Does he try and stay undetected, or is he feeling pissed off at Kurloz and he decides to take it out on the GHB? Roxy and/or Dirk end up steering Dave and Rose's bodies around, and it's depressing they can't talk to their mom/bro, but they could actually try and get to Jake and Jane now. Pushing the definition of "ancestor": Dave possessing Bro/Jade possessing Grandpa would be such a unique mindfuck I don't know what would come of it, but probably they could help each other feel better about it. Aradia in the Handmaid, Sollux in the Helmsman: who has the worst time of it? This is great with all the beta trolls really.
ALL: Sugar Baby AU
One side of the ship gets the goods and enjoys the hell out of being lavishly spoiled, the other side gets real joy out of showering the other with a bunch of great gifts and needful things. And then there are the downsides, where one assumes the money is the only reason the other stays, while the sugar baby sometimes pushes their limits to ensure that they stay a worthwhile investment.

The Midnight Crew would also fit right in - and Dave really liked the Midnight Crew webcomic in canon, so maybe in an AU, detective Jade could find him under suspicion of dark deeds because of his associates. ALL: Star Trek AOS fusion
So the alpha trolls come from a background that shares a trait with the Federation in terms of how the government is supposed to look out for everyone, acting in the best interests of society. Plenty of them were also dreadful at it on Beforus, and it makes me want to see how bad and good these trolls would be at the Star Trek universe. Feel free to subvert ideas, upend the plot, and possibly go parodic - like, would the characters even make it through the demands of the Academy in order to get to the more action-movie parts of the story where they have a better chance of excelling?
Even more optional: Cronus/Meenah/Mituna as Kirk, because according to backstory each of them felt like they had a certain destiny attached to them - and Meenah even resisted hers like Kirk. Kurloz as Spock, trying to destroy his rage.
ALL: Werewolves

They'd probably be a whole lot better at this plot! I'd love this to just be an adventurous romp. Feel free to plug the characters into straightforward or odd roles. I'd prefer focus on the first movie or the fourth (the mermaid/priest thing could work well with sea dweller/land dweller), but a mashup of installments could be fun. I haven't seen the fifth movie, though.
