I finally found the Scarlet Pimpernel!

This is pretty much my review on the Welk Resort version of the musical that's being put on right now. If you want to read it, it's cool, if not, that's okay.

There will always be someone willing to sail into the fire... )

I LOVE Bride and Prejudice!! But yeah all of the elderly people just left me alone. It was weird. I had to sit directly next to one of them although I could've moved since there were a billion empty seats everywhere.

I'm a karaoke-ist (if that's even a word), not a singer. My voice isn't professional. Are you a singer??

The only version of the musical I've ever seen live was our high school's production, but that - and I'm saying this as objectively as possible - was phenomenal nonetheless. Our school's pretty well known for our theater program :D

I think I would have died if I had ever been able to see the OBC perform live, but sadly, I was never able to.

Ah, so you did get to see it! I am happy for you. :3

Yes, the costumes were cheap. But they did quite a bit with their limited budget. It's the actors that make a play, after all, not the costumes. I think they could have been up there in plainclothes and I still might have loved it just as much. :3

When my friends and I went, the theatre was also sadly empty. (But, by god, the actors put on their best show, anyway.) I remember going out for intermission and seeing all of the men who had clearly been dragged there by their wives heading for the bar, some even verbally saying the "I need a stiff drink" that they all had on their faces.

Finally: Race doesn't really matter for Broadway-type shows. If you want to do it, go for it. I think the cast of this particular show just happened to turn out that way, as I've seen clips of shows with both Bounders and Chauvelins of varying ethnicities.
