Title: Broken Hearts and Silver Tears Ch4
Pairing: Demi/Selena
Rating: M for language and slight violence.
Summary: How Demi would carry on if the whole Selena/Nick rumor was true.
A/N: Thank you all for your comments. You guys make me smile :) Here's a brand new chapter so I hope you'll like it. By the way, there might be slight Nick bashing in this chapter. I don't really have a problem with the kid but I figured Demi would in my fic. Demi's thoughts are in Italics while actual dialogue is in bold italic. This chapter is definitely emotional for Demi. Just thought I'd warn you. Enjoy and please comment!
DISCLAIMER: I don't own Demi Lovato or Selena Gomez
She wanted to scream whenever she saw them together. She wanted him to bleed every single time he smiled that stupid smile of his at her. She imagined bashing his face into a door or bashing him with a guitar. But she couldn't. Those eyes and that smile stopped her every time.
Best friend. You're only her best friend. No matter how much you want it to be more.
It ate at her, these dark emotions whenever she saw Selena with him. But she held it in. She didn't tell Selena how much she hated the idiot. Her thoughts about how he was so two-faced never escaped her mind. Standing next to the couple now, Demi pretended.
It wasn't so hard like they make it seem in the movies or in books. You always could see the desperation in the poor admirer's face, feel the sadness seeping from the best friend who would never get her chance, the defeat that everyone feels from an unrequited love. No, it wasn't hard at all. Demi mastered her emotions a long time ago.
"She never noticed before. She'll never notice now. Not like she'll want to notice. She's got the greatest boyfriend ever," Demi thought angrily.
The constant conversations about Nick made her boil. Nick is so awesome Demi. He did the sweetest thing yesterday. I can't believe he texted me again Dem! As much as Demi wanted to yell at Selena for talking about Nick so much, she couldn't. She felt horrible even at the thought at yelling at Selena, just like she did during their fight. And more than that, Selena hardly talked about the idiot in reality. It was one of their things. They wouldn't go on and on about boyfriends.
But God it feels like she does, Demi thought sadly. Snapping out of her thoughts, Demi looked at the couple beside her. "Fuck!" She fought back her tears, using all her strength to keep her emotions in check. Clenching her fists, Demi angrily watched as the bastard shoved his tongue down her throat. "Why did I let her convince me to watch a movie with them? Why do I put myself through this. Fucking hell!" Anger swelled in her gut as she forced her eyes back to the widescreen T.V. in front of her. "Why can't I be Selena's Edward?"
Thankfully, Selena quickly pulled away. Poking him in the rib, she sheepishly turned to her best friend and gave her a guilty face. "It won't happen again, Demi. We'll be good."
She couldn't help but smile at the beautiful girl next to her. She was apologizing for making out with her boyfriend. "Good cuz I hate feeling like the third wheel, you guys." She easily masked her face, grinning at the two next to her. "Plus, it's a little gross watching you guys mack on eachother. I thought we were gonna watch a movie?" You shove your tongue down her throat again, I'll rip it out and choke you with it pretty boy.
Grinning at her, Selena turned to her boyfriend and quirked her eyebrow. "Let's watch the movie now. It's not nice of us to make out while sitting right next to her."
Nodding in agreement, Nick smiled and Demi before asking "Hey Demi, aren't you seeing anyone? There are plenty of guys who would love the chance to date you."
Inwardly grimacing, Demi merely shook her head no after forcing a small smile onto her face. Not only had his question made her want to kick his ass but it had in fact piqued Selena's interest as well. "Nick's right, Dem. Anyone would be lucky to date you. There has to be someone you like?"
Feeling the sudden urge to sob for dear life, Demi simply grinned before replying to the love of her life, "Nope. Nobody. All the good ones are taken." Turning towards the T.V. again, Demi continued watching the movie in front of her, replacing her and Selena with Edward and Bella. Seeing Selena grin and roll her eyes at her in her peripheral vision, Demi tortured herself as she watched her Selena cuddle further into Nick's body. Needing to escape, Demi waited a few more minutes before saying she needed to head of to the bathroom.
Locking the door behind her, Demi stared at her reflection. Why? Why do I have to feel like this? Why does it have to hurt so much? Why does feeling empty sound so much better than feeling anything? Unable to take it anymore, Demi returned to the room, rambling of some excuse about her family needing her home sooner than planned.
"Do you really have to go now? The movie hasn't finished yet," Selena pouted. Damn that pout...don't give in. You can't pretend right now. "I know, I really wanted to hang with you guys but I really do have to go. We'll try again some other time, ok?" Grabbing her bag, she slowly made her way to the door with Selena in tow.
Turning back to face her, she couldn't help but smile at the childlike expression on the girl's face. "Don't throw a tantrum, we'll hang out soon. I'll call you tomorrow, ok?" After receiving an ethusiastic nod at the unspoken promise, Demi found herself crushed by Selena's arms and brought up her own to return the favor. Saying a final farewell, Demi rushed to her car parked outside of Selena's house before speeding away to her own.
Wearing her pjs, Demi sat in her room listening to the sobs that escaped her small body. She was alone as everyone else had plans that Friday night. Slowly rising from her bed, Demi walked over to her mirror and stared at her reflection like she did everyday since that fateful night. She raised her hand to her face, trailing her fingertips against the tearstains along her cheek. She'll never love you. Why would she?
"Shut up," Demi muttered.
She doesn't want you.
"Shut up."
How could you ever think she would love you?
"She might."
Then why is she so happy with Nick? Why isn't she watching some movie with you while eating pickles?
"Shut up."
She'll never love you. She has Nick.
"Shut up, shut up, SHUT UP!" Turning her body towards the wall next to her mirror, Demi punched her fist to a now familiar dent in the wall. Breathing heavily, she finally let all the sadness pour out of her, sobs wracking through her body.
