washing dishes, heard a dish slip in the drainer on my right, though it was gonna fall, reached with my dominant left hand and got the knifer sticking out instead. Severed my nerve in two - 5 stitches. Surgery to get it reattached - another 5 plus however many hair-thin ones on the actual nerve tunnel inside the finger. In a cast now so that I won't strain my nerve and make it come apart again. 2 more weeks then physical therapy. As far as feeling the side of my finger again, 6 months to a year if ever, but it looks like there's a good chance (whole point of the surgery).

so yeah, suffice to say, no violin/viola for a while. It hurts. Mentally, emotionally (I don't have my out now). I'm just happy I'll be able to play again at all - one 1/2 cm to the side there and I would've gotten my tendon which = more surgery, pain, less chance of recovery. So you could say I count my blessings.

Sorry - thought I'd made this post but i guess not. Probably too emotional at the time. Well, now you know. My current emotion is that there's nothing I can do now, so I just have to keep the rest of my life in balance and hope for the best.

Oh wow. I remember something about surgery but nothing specific. That's really terrible. It's great that you can be at all positive about it.

I hope you get back to 100% soon. :)
