keyboard (this is just a keypad but same idea). No more noisy tapping and it would take up a lot less space than a normal keyboard. And those folding ones for pdas suck.
I've seen keyboards for sale that are nothing more than a projection onto the desktop via a laser beam. Something like this would be a similar concept, but like the laser keyboard, I don't think it will gain much of a foothold. If I remember correctly, the no-moving-parts keyboards of the past have more or less failed miserably.
The reason? People need tactile feedback. It just feels too weird to type and not feel the key depress. It's disorienting. Why do you think it takes so long to get used to a laptop keyboard? Taken to the logical extreme, a keybaord like that would most likely remain a novelty in obscurity. But such is the way of innovation.
It is however, freakin' sweet! Just picture similar technology applied to clothing...
