Sitting in my hospital bed at Guys unable to sleep. The potato alien has been ejected and I feel
relief for its absence. Be interesting to hear the final size and its biopsy status this week.
Pain isn't bad now on day 3, just coughing up all the throat secretions is nasty and pulls on the wound. I've had the drain and cannulas out yesterday, staples due out today. My oxygen sats are still low though but I'm going home today.
Was nice being in the private hospital even if only for 1 night, they have liveried porters and butlers bring your meals on a silver tray under a clochè! I was booked in there for 3 nights, but then they told me after my night in the ICU that they were taking me round the corner to Guys, as no nhs consultants were working the private hospital that weekend. I've only briefly seen a doctor here anyway, saw the physio in the private hospital who checked my facial nerves weren't damaged.
I can speak and I can eat, although nothing scratchy or stingy like hot spice. The food here is usual low level mush but I'm not really hungry and just eating through boredom
So I'm in a small ward, a couple of ladies with throat and tongue cancer, so I'm thankful mine is minor. Lady opposite had her tongue removed and a new one made out of the skin on her forearm, incredible. She cant speak as has a tracheostomy and shes had intensive nursing bless her. I wonder how she will enjoy food with no taste buds now?
Been watching the cats on the cat cam, Doof mostly stayed in same spot on my bed for 3 days bless him , I tried talking to him down the camera but my voice is a little husky so doesnt sound right.
Lynne visited today and my MPSC hijabi aunties yesterday, we have a very busy 2 months coming up in our branch so lots to do, good thing is they are managing without me, but theyve all had time off this year and I havent. Considering one now though if I can fit it in.
