I'm around. I swear. I've been working and playing games and roleplaying and being non-functional; people who are interested in my daily life and aren't already following should just stalk me on Twitter, I update there more frequently. I'm @futureblouse.
Anyway, as traditionally happens at this time of year, I'm planning cosplay for the summer. Right now, I think Justin and I are looking at two ~things.
First, because she is one of my favorite TV characters of basically all time,
Amy Pond, from the most recent two seasons of Doctor Who. I've finally convinced Justin to dress up as the Eleventh Doctor, and we'll spend Wizard World: Philadelphia and possibly part of Otakon running around like idiots. (Because if you are with the Doctor/are the Doctor, you are ALWAYS RUNNING, okay.) And most of these costumes are actually pretty low-impact - thrifting, closet cosplay (I can't make a leather bomber jacket, sorry) and I get to buy the aforementioned cool jacket and some cowboy boots, which can also get snuck into my regular wardrobe after convention season! I'm looking already at
the wig, unless I decide to reuse my Orihime wig (but that wig is so tangled and big hrrrrnnnffffff I don't know).
Merrill - I have mixed feelings about her character, overall, (elves, hurrah, and I do find her Cloud Cuckoolander moments genuinely adorable, but sometimes she crosses over into Helpless Moeblob FanBait and I really wish that they'd handled her storyline with more… nuance, I guess, but DA2 has a lot of spots that are rough and need more nuance, this is not a surprise) but I like her costume, and as Justin rightly pointed out to me, I look
pretty similar to her, lacking the facial tattoos and pointy ears. (The rest of that is the other ~face comparison~ moments for the other pieces of our DA2 group. Come on, who doesn't want Varric cosplay, huh? HUH?)
Actually, there are loads of things about doing DA2 cosplay, overall, that appeal to me (photoshoots with lots of fake blood? WE WILL SPATTER EVERYTHING. EVERYONE. tons of at-con humor? wearing full body chain mail? ahahaha this will be fun.)
What really cracks me up is that the wig I'm looking at is the "Daisy" wig.
