Basch and Penelo
I sometimes really hate I get so attached to pairings that don't have much basis in canon. I mean, when I was in love with Yuffie and Vincent as a pairing, I only had the goddamn game. Interaction? What interaction? They never even stood NEXT TO EACH OTHER. The fandom for this pairing was small and dedicated. But look at it now! It's a fairly popular pairing (though still nowhere on the level of others) and we've got loads and loads of material to work off of. We got lucky with Yuffie and Vincent. We got really lucky.
Auron and Rikku? Better; think about it, we had all those conversations in the game, plus, she carries his stuff around in the sequel. That's gold, for me, there.

DO THEY TALK? Yes. Like, twice.
DO THEY INTERACT? Yes. Like, twice.
IS THERE ANY HINT? Even for a crazed fan like me? No.

I wish, I wish, I wish, just once I could fall head over heels for a pairing that had more base than them standing next to each other for two seconds in a boss fight.
