...Series of uplifting days...

After 9 months of doing nothing but complaining, sweating, and growing out of clothing, then spending 8 weeks breast feeding, changing diapers and trying to move without being in pain, only to be followed by being confined in your home for fear of having children's aid called on you if you leave your home-then having even more surgery and being unable to move... you end up with no social life, extreme lonliness and an almost-failing relationship.

In the last few days however things have been looking up immensely. The night before last, Shane and I went and did some shopping as I had gotton one of my itty-bitty paycheques, and always spend every cent I can on my Jovie. We came home, gave Jovie her pablum, bathed her and after she was about to sleep in my mother's arms, asked her if she'd mind babysitting as we were thinking of maybe taking in a movie.
Which, we eventually told her, would start in about 40 minutes. She agreed, as she's amazing, and we rushed to get ready and were on our way.

It was a big deal to me, even if it's not a big deal to most. I dressed up, had my hair down for once, wore some jeans, a nice shirt and my 6½ inch heeled shoes (because because 5'3½ sucks sometimes). We were listening to oldies 93 the whole way there and I was grinning like an idiot and singing to the old songs because I happen to be kind of a music nerd at times.

We went and saw Superhero Movie which was surprisingly good and not as stupid as I predicted. I honestly laughed nearly all the way through it.
Afterwards, it still felt early ,I was dolled up and so excited to be out that I suggested maybe going for a drink, but Shane argued that he had to work and wasn't up for being up too late, so we went home.

The next day, my old friend Amber who I have not seen in just over 4 months decided to come by and hungout. When Shane came home, mom again watched Jovie and the three of us went out, did a bit of odd shopping and decided to go to Joey Calizones for some supper. I ordered the "9 wings" deal (they make not only the biggest but the most delicious wings in the city), Shane and Amber both had chicken fingers, and she and I had a couple of Smirnoff coolers. It was fun to just hang out and catch up on old times. Another uplifting and fulfilling day.

Today I woke up at 10:00 (that's right, I got to sleep in a little bit ) and came into the livingroom. Shane was in a surprisingly good mood and wanted to get some breakfast. We had just missed the McDonalds breakfast hours, and Shane didn't expect me to want to leave the house as I had just woken up and suggested maybe ordering in. This sounded awful to me as the only order-in food that doesn't cost 50+ dollars for two around here includes : Pizza, wings, or pasta. Basically deepfry. This was probably the last thing I wanted for breakfast. So I suggested going out to Muio's to get some, as they have a terrific reputation for food. Shane agreed, now it was just a matter of transportation. The time was about 10:16 and my mom had said if she did not receive a call from the hiring lady in regards to her interview with the retirement home by 11am, she would be calling.

I insisted we wait until after we find out whether or not she has an interview before we pirate her car, so I woke her up and let her know there was no call. By 10:45 or so she was up and trying to get a hold of them. They were not available on fridays, so we knew there wouldn't be an interview today. We then asked if she minded if we took the car, and offered to bring her a pita and some gingerale (she had a drinking night). It worked out, so I dressed Jovie up in her new outfit I'd gotten her (A pink/orange peasant shirt and Jeans with little blue shoes) packed the diaper bag, got myself dressed up (Yay!) and we were rolling. Considering it only stopped snowing here a day or two ago, it was very nice out. And very warm..

The window was down, my hair was up, we were only wearing light hoodies (Jovie too) and we were blasting the good 'ol "Oldies 93". The traffic was a nightmare. Care cutting off other cars, cars pulling out only to almost smash into other cars, cars backing out into the 10 oncoming cars, running red lights, etc. All in all I used my imaginary break a lot and invisioned myself diving into the back seat and covering Jovie's body with my own more than once.

After dropping off my mother's goodies, we made it to Muio's. It was packed with old people and we had to wait for a seat, but during that time a lot of nice ladies and one funny-looking kid came up and talked to/about Jovie. I always enjoy that because then I get to brag.
Eventually, we were seated at a four-chair table. I put Jovie on my lap and browsed the menu. To our disappointment they ceased breakfast. We both ordered the broiled chicken, which came with fries and a salad. As appetizers, we ordered onion rings and garlic bread. It was delicious. Normally the concept of a pile of deep fry food is not necessarily something I am excited over, but it tasted unlike anything else I've had. The broiled chicken would make Colonel Sanders weap.

Afterwards we made our way to the mall to spoil ourselves as Shane had gotten paid today. We somehow carted the stroller up the escalater to the baby department of Sears and bought her a few extremely adorable outfits, then made our way to Zellers so Shane could pick up some lighter fabric work pants for work... then he insisted I get something too, so I went to Garage and found a couple of inexpensive shirts that didn't make me look like I just had a baby 5 months ago.
After all of the running around we stopped in the food court for a drink, and ran into a girl named Rachel that we used to work with. She went on maternity leave only a few days before I did and our daughters (hers happened to be her fourth and she looks MAYBE 22.) are only a few weeks at most apart. It was Jovie's first time meeting another baby and she had an amusing reaction. Where Layla would reach out and try to touch Jovie, Jovie would look at her, frowning, studying her and becoming angry that there was another like her, as if there was someone new that would get attention instead. Once she realized that I was only talking to her and not Layla anymore, she lightened up a bit, raised her eyebrows, but kept her serious expression.

Rachel told us that the snow had cleared from the boardwalk and because of the warm weather we decided to go out and take Jovie for a walk. There were people walking dogs, ducks, fisherman- so much for her to see, it was so nice to get her out of our tiny house. And it was really nice to spend another day with Shane.
I think our relationship really needed the last few days, a chance to lighten up and just enjoy eachother's company instead of it almost being like we were working together.

But as always things come to an end and there are constant pointless arguments, God help me.
