This is a story of a boy named Ned. At a young age, Ned learned that he had the ability to wake the dead. But it came with rules and consequences. If the newly-woken dead person lives for longer than a minute, someone else will have to die to take their place. Once Ned touches a person back to life, he can never touch them again unless he wants them to remain dead for good. One touch: life, Two touches: death, forever.
Ned became a Piemaker and hid his secret from the world until a detective named Emerson Cod stumbled upon Ned and witnessed his gift in action. Since then, Emerson convinced Ned to team up and solve crimes by waking the recently diseased and asking who did them in.
One day, Ned discovers that his childhood sweetheart Charlotte "Chuck" Charles has been murdered. In an attempt to say goodbye to her, he awakens her. But upon awaking her, he realizes that he can't kill her again. In an act of karma-tic justice, the thieving funeral manager dies in her place. So, starting her life anew, Chuck joins Ned and Emerson to help fight crime and solve mysteries.
Chuck's aunts, Lily and Vivian, grieve the death of their beloved niece. Little do they know that Chuck is looking over them. The Piemaker tells her that she can never tell them she's alive because it would hurt them more than her death.
While Ned and Chuck's newfound reunion is full of love and joy, Olive Snook is not as thrilled. Olive works at The Pie Hole with Ned and has been in love with him since the beginning. Even with jealous feelings and a broken heart, Olive and Chuck eventually become good friends, with Olive sent to comfort and befriend Chuck's aunts through their depression.
Through flashbacks, we learn the stories behind the characters and how if affects them in the present.

This show had everything. Adventure, mystery, romance, music, imagination, comedy, friendship, inspiration, twists and surprises.
An ode to the actors of Pushing Daisies, who brought the most imaginative scripts to life.
This certainly won't be my last Pushing Daisies post! More Ode's to come. Especially when S2 comes out on DVD. Sigh, I love Pushing Daisies.
