I never felt so right but
When I wiped the tears from your eyes.
For you, love, there are not enough poetry lines
For the curves of your neck
And the kisses of this heart of mine.
I never felt so right but
When I fell asleep in my notebook
And dreamt adjectives for your name--
Where I take you, breathe with you, and hold you close,
Like a matchstick wrapped in a blanket of flame.
Lord knows
I couldn't hide this poetry from you;
It lives in every gaze I send your way.
If you could read my wishes on the stars,
You would know how I long to wake to the quiet sleeping of your face.
I knew if I didn't write these words now
I'd never see that you smile so wide and dance so divinely.
On a completely unrelated note, my niece is due January 29th, 2007. How exciting!!
