Fire Update

I'm kind of at a loss for what to say. Everything is going so much slower than I would have thought.

The Red Cross and Salvation Army, along with our church, have helped us with our immediate needs (though I still have no clothes that really fit correctly), but our long-term outlook is looking pretty grim. I don't know what the chances are that my parents will qualify for a loan of any kind. I won't. I just don't have enough income, and even though I'm working on getting a job right now, it won't be enough. I won't have a work history that makes me an acceptable risk.

I suppose that I should say that we found my cat, Rover, in the house. I had some small hope that he'd made it out, but we lost him too. Our dogs are settling in at my brother's house. The one kitty we have left is being taken care of by a very nice family from church. She's a little wigged out, but doing okay.

I don't know how much I'll be on in the next few weeks, but I will have some limited access. I'm hopeful that my laptop survived the fire basically intact, and if it did I'm going to be installing a wireless card which should let me have internet access at my brother's house and at the library.

Thanks to everyone for their thoughts and prayers. I really believe they help.
