Things I'd like for Christmas

Dec 19, 2012 21:53

So, this is going up way later than usual, and I'm confining it to fannish things this year.

I have a stocking at
fandom_stocking here

I asked for fic, vids, icons, recs, or whatever anyone else wants to make me in the following fandoms: Avengers (MCU), Buffyverse, Castle, Common Law, Game of Thrones (television or book fandoms), Inception, Leverage, The Mentalist, Psych, Sherlock, Suits, Teen Wolf, White Collar, and Whitechapel.

There's a little more about favorite ships/characters and general likes and dislikes at my stocking. I'd be thrilled to find that someone has stuffed my stocking. Check out other people's while you're there, if you're wanting to do a little bit. Stocking fills won't be unscreened until January 4 at the very earliest, so there's still time.

To make this list stand apart a little. These are kind of my dream fics in each of the above fandoms, plus a few crossover things that I'd really really like to read.

There are already a ton of Coulson isn't dead fics out there, but the world can always do with one more. I'd love to see him not come back until months or a year even after his supposed death. I want him just as pissed off as the team when he realizes that nobody ever told them, that these people, some of whom are as close to him as family, have been allowed to believe that he's dead. He should also be surprised that nobody questioned it. Nobody insisted to see the body before they'd believe it. Their resident skeptics, Bruce & Tony haven't gone investigating just to be sure. So maybe he's a little pissed at them too. And the team is pretty freaked out. They're angry. All of them are angry, but I kind of think that Steve might actually be the angriest. He's been manipulated and used before. He knows what that is, and sure, something good came out of it, but at least at the end of the day people would have admitted they were using him to sell bonds during the war. Fury should have told them, should have at least admitted that he'd manipulated them into the response he wanted, into saving the world. I'm not really married to any ships here, and I'd kind of like Coulson to have not been in a relationship with any of the team prior to his death. And if he comes back, not because it's just time, but because something the Avengers are doing ends up being connected to whatever Fury has had him off doing since he recovered from the big hunk of metal being stabbed into his chest, I'd be ecstatic. So yeah, that's the Coulson is alive story that I want. If it already exists somewhere, point me that way and I'll be just as happy as if someone wrote it just for me.

Years ago (when Season 6 was airing), I started working on a story that I think I've decided that I'm never actually going to write. I wanted to play with Willow losing control of her magic, without getting into the whole bad crack!magic Willow. I also wanted to work my own view of how magic in the Buffyverse works (jossed a bit, but I think you can still squish it in and call it good) into Willow's storyline. That basic idea is that some people have a kind of innate magic (and I have an extensive Giles & Ethan backstory that is mostly written, but only one small part of is posted anywhere). Willow, Giles, Ethan, Tara, they all have innate magic. Wesley on the other hand learns magic. He can work magic, with sufficient knowledge and access to sufficient power, but it doesn't come from within him. Magic users in my system can often identify the feel or flavor of the magic of other people, especially people they know well. So, making the big bad not actually be Willow. There's a demon that uses her. She doesn't know at first, and then later, when Giles (or Ethan, which is how I was actually planning to write it) figures it out, she refuses to believe it. The demon uses her as a kind of well of power, but it's a symbiotic relationship, augmenting her power too, making her stronger. It can do that, largely because it causes her to steal power from those that she's tied to magically. She's mostly strongly tied to Tara, but she's also taking power from Giles. Eventually she puts Tara in the hospital, by stealing too much of her magic, and Giles at least knows that Tara can't recover from it. Her body might, but what makes her Tara will never return. He has already tried to confront Willow, but now he tries again, and it makes her angry, makes her leave. I never quite worked out how they deal with it which is probably why it's never getting written. I'd like Ethan involved. In my initial concept, after escaping from the initiative, he can't quite seem to stay as far away from Sunnydale as is probably good for him. He's intimately familiar with Giles' magic though, tied to him, even more closely than Willow and Tara are tied together. And he has felt every one of the few times that Giles has used magic since they first parted ways, so it's disconcerting when he starts to feel a constant trickle of Giles' familiar power. It leads him to investigate, and ultimately to help, because whatever else may be true, he doesn't want Giles dead. He's never wanted him dead. He also just happens to know a little bit about the sort of demon that does such a thing. It would likely end up in a Giles/Ethan place, not entirely happy, but at least hopeful. And Spike should be prominent just because I love Spike. I believe in my original concept there was probably some Spike/Willow/Xander going on when it was done, but that's way less important to me than the Giles/Ethan was, and I'd even sacrifice that to get the rest of the story.

I want Alexis all grown up. I want Martha, still ridiculous and lovely. I want Castle and Beckett finally being a functional couple. I want Ryan and Esposito either together or in that weird place where everyone knows that they're meant to be, but they both refuse to admit it to themselves or each other. I would not object to, and might actually be ridiculously pleased by Castle/Beckett spawn and Alexis as the coolest big sister in the history of ever. And despite the fact that she's a grown woman who has been making her own decisions for a long while now, and she might add, doing a much better job at it than most of the people in her life, all of the men should be ridiculously overprotective of Alexis, while Beckett rolls her eyes and treats her like the grown-up she is. Bonus points for them having a frank discussion about her sex-life and Castle accidentally overhearing part of it and sticking his fingers in his ears with a lalalalala I can't hear you, sort of moment. Basically I want the bunch of them to be one big, slightly dysfunctional, happy family. This is another of those that almost certainly already exists, but the world can never have enough of them.

I'm sad that this never had a chance to get a real fandom before the network killed it. I'm pretty dedicated to the Wes/Travis pairing. I'd really like the sort of fic where they do everything backwards. And maybe a year or two down the line. Though I want them to still be going to therapy. So, doing it backwards. Kid first, I'm kind of thinking the kid will probably be Travis and some random chick's kid. Maybe she dies, or maybe she just decides she can't handle raising a kid and leaves the kid. Travis grew up without his parents. He can't do that to his own child (and he never knew that the girl was pregnant. Sure, she quit returning his calls, but that wasn't that unusual and it's not like he didn't have plenty of other girls to call). So there's a kid (and I'm really pretty indifferent about age anywhere from infant to pre-school age), and he can't do it alone, and all of their friends want to help, but it's Wes who insists that he can't raise a baby in a trailer set up in a warehouse. And he's been living out of this damned hotel for too long anyway, and somehow they end up looking at houses together, because it's more cost-effective. So then they're living together and there's a kid, and Wes ends up bonding with the kid. And it becomes pretty clear pretty quickly that they might just as well be married, especially considering that dating is an exercise in futility for either of them. Even if they can convince a potential date that they aren't together, something always goes wrong. It doesn't take long before they just stop trying. Travis also freaks out when they get shot at, and he realizes that he hasn't made arrangements for the kid should something happen to him, so if he dies then Wes will raise his kid, and if they're both gone, Mike is next, and Alex has agreed to take the kid if there are no other options. He makes sure that they both have power of attorney forms for medical and financial purposes just in case. It's when one of them actually gets injured that they realize they might just love each other, and even then it takes them months to get from there to sex. Angst about how terrible they're going to be at fatherhood is adored. Everyone, seriously everyone, assuming they're a couple is practically a given. The therapy group is much beloved, and maybe one of the couples has dropped out and a new one has come along, but the dynamic is much the same.

So, really, I'm not in any way picky here. I want Tyrion. I'm not particularly bothered whether it's book Tyrion or TV Tyrion, I just want more of him. I love him beyond all reason. I don't need a relationship to be focused on, but if it's after Shae came into his life, she should be the relationship. There is nobody that I love as much as Tyrion. But I do have a soft spot for Jon Snow, Bran Stark, Arya Stark, and Sandor Clegane. I've not found the pairing in this fandom that I can't justify yet. It's one of the few I have where sibling incest really doesn't bother me, but I do want the kids to be older before sex. Not necessarily adults by our standards, but at least in the middle of their teens (fifteen/sixteenish).

There's a lot more already out there for this fandom than I could have envisioned when I first watched the movie. Arthur is by far my favorite character. I'm an Arthur/Eames fan, and would never object to more of them, especially more of them post-movie. I'm also in love with backstory fic. I'd adore seeing Arthur and Dom pre-film but after Mal's death, or yet another history of the PASIV project. I love them all, but I do love Arthur best, so please don't do him any permanent damage.

There are just not enough episode tags for The Rundown Job. The world needs more. I'll take them as totally gen (though an implied Parker/Hardison relationship is probably essential if you're looking to make it fit with canon), Parker/Hardison with Eliot, or Parker/Hardison/Eliot. I'm usually up for some Eliot/Hardison without Parker, but not in the aftermath of this job. Immediately, post-episode as Eliot recovers and Parker deals with the feelings she's still not comfortable with and Hardison tries to reassure himself that they're both still alive and there and his would be incredible. Future-fic where after Nate and Sophie retire, the three of them work on their own, and somehow end up with more than their fair share of cases that are just a bit more dangerous than what they'd done for Nate (but still find plenty of rich assholes to steal from too). Anything with Vance. Alternatively, I wouldn't mind any Eliot backstory, but that really needs to be sufficiently dark. Eliot's backstory doesn't have much light to it. I'm also always happy for Eliot/Nate, though I like the pairing better through Season 3ish or so, after that I tend to prefer Hardison/Eliot or Parker/Hardison/Eliot. And I'd love crossovers with Burn Notice, Supernatural, pretty much any procedural (but especially Bones, Castle, Criminal Minds, or The Mentalist), or any crazy cracky fandom crossover. I'm in love with Leverage/Avengers crossovers for example.

My pairing of choice for the fandom is Cho/Jane, but I like gen fic even better. I like the way Jane's mind works. I like the different banter he has with each member of the team. I like things that explore how he's still just starting to form real connections with people again. I also really like crossovers for this fandom. I like it crossed with other procedural type dramas, especially Criminal Minds. Really, I'd just like to listen to Reid analyze Red John, but they could be called in to work another case too. I'd adore a Mentalist/Psych crossover. I also like crossovers where Jane is confronted with actual supernatural things, especially if there are real psychics. So crossing The Mentalist with Supernatural, Teen Wolf, the Buffyverse, Dresden Files, any of the essentially modern, real-world fantasy fandoms works very very well for me.

My pairing of choice here is Shawn/Lassiter. I don't mind Shawn/Juliet or Gus/Juliet. I'm really not good with Shawn/Gus. I also adore gen fic as always. I'm very invested in case-fic for this fandom. I also seriously want an AU where Shawn actually does become a cop, but he's still Shawn and he and Carlton still can't stand the way the other works (because Shawn is all messy intuition and marginally legal (sometimes flat-out illegal) searches, and he likes to showboat, while Carlton does investigations by the book and relies only on substantive evidence). But they end up having to work together, and they're more or less equals. They've each headed up units with the SBPD before, but Shawn is constantly in trouble, so he usually doesn't for long. This Shawn should be a little harder, with a sharper edge to his sarcasm and not as much playfulness to him, but still essentially our Shawn. This AU idea started because of an extremely vivid image in my head of Shawn, sitting at a desk in the office with his feet up on the table wearing blue jeans and a care bears t-shirt (pretty sure it was Good Luck bear) that was really a couple of sizes too small, with a shoulder holster strapped on over it, and a pair of mirrored sunglasses. I just haven't been able to shake the image or the story that I want to go with it. I'm also interested in fic where Shawn has a kid he didn't know about but ends up with (see Common Law), especially if he ends up doing a relationship backwards with Lassiter starting with the kid. I want one of the team in peril stories, especially if it's Shawn, Gus, or Lassiter who is in peril. I want this fandom crossed over with pretty much anything and everything.

I'd really like gen here most of all, but I do ship John/Sherlock. There's not a particular story I'm looking for. I love Mycroft. I love Lestrade. I'm not in love with them together, but I don't hate the idea or anything. I want to know more about Sherlock growing up. I want to know more about John's family. I want to know more about Harry and Clara. I want John grieving post Season 2 and I want Sherlock to come back. I want their reunion and John's anger and disbelief, and giddiness all at once. I want Sherlock re-introduced to the world. I want Sherlock in the time he has to stay dead, nearly going mad with the need to reach out to John or Mrs. Hudson and being completely unable to do so because he can't risk them that way. I want Molly wishing she could tell them what she knows, but completely unable to betray Sherlock's trust. I want Lestrade starting to call Sherlock to ask about a case a hundred times before he remembers that there's nobody to answer his call, and then calling John anyway. There's just so much that I want. I would also dearly love to see a Sherlock/Whitechapel crossover. I wouldn't mind Sherlock/Psych, or Sherlock/The Mentalist either, but they seem more difficult to navigate the logistics of to me.

I'm pretty much in the fandom for the Harvey/Mike, but I also adore Louis. For Harvey/Mike I want kid fic of pretty much any variety. I want future fic where they're settled and happy, and Mike's too important and too powerful for anyone to even think about taking him down (he's also corrected the little error that had Jessica figuring out that he didn't have a real law degree. I want Donna knowing absolutely everything about their relationship before they do. She's already got a short list of rings for Harvey to look at when he tells her he's thinking about proposing, for instance. I want them as close to safe as they can be in terms of Mike's secret. But if they can be in physical peril, that's good too. I want stories where one or both of them are a victim and have to deal with the courts from that side of the equation. I want them injured and sick. I want them being threatened. And for Louis, there isn't much that I don't want. Backstory or futurefic or set right in the series, it's all good. I prefer my Louis to be a weasel, but he's a loyal weasel who cares more about his people than he likes to admit. I like my Louis to be unexpectedly compassionate and embarassed by it. I like him to be ruthless in the defense of the firm (and by extension all the lawyers in it, even the ones he professes to hate). I'd love a crossover where Mike lands Richard Castle as a client for Harvey, or anything that brings criminal investigations into their midst (whether they're representing the defendant in some way, or because they are somehow linked to the crimes) I'd particularly like to see what the Criminal Minds team thinks of Mike, because they're almost certainly going to know that he's hiding something, and if anyone can dig out the truth of his education it would be Garcia (though I'd prefer that he not have to quit the firm as a result of any interaction).

I find that I can ship Stiles with pretty much anyone other than Scott. Jackson/Lydia or Jackson/Danny are the only two Jackson pairings that work for me. Scott only really works with Allison or an original character. Derek only works with Stiles. Exceptions include Jackson/Lydia/Stiles, and Isaac/Erica/Jackson. I'm really pretty easy on pairings for the fandom. They're all so pretty. There's not a specific story I'm looking for. I just want more, always more, of this fandom. I mentioned in an earlier post that I do kind of want the NASCAR AU. There are also never enough Stiles was bitten instead of Scott fics. And I'm kind of wanting an AU where Stiles isn't quick enough with his answer and Peter turns him, and he's got Lydia who is still useful even when he doesn't have to user her to bring himself back from the dead. I like this scenario either ending up in a pretty decent place where Peter ends up being surprisingly competent once Kate is dead or in a very very dark place where turning him snapped something in Stiles and Lydia's connection to Peter makes her a little bit nuts and together the three of them are magnificent and oh so very dangerous and they win every fight. I think I might kind of desperately want a Mentalist/Teen Wolf crossover, where the CBI is called in after one too many unexplainable deaths in Beacon Hills. Or a Criminal Minds/Teen Wolf crossover where something's going on that looks like the work of a serial killer, and the BAU gets called to help.

El/Peter/Neal is without doubt my OT3 for this show. El's got to be an equal partner in what's going on though. I do want backstory for Neal. I also want future-fic where Neal is free and he and Peter and El have to figure out how to make things work when he's no longer literally tethered to Peter. I desperately want to see them raising a kid together. I want sweet domestic things with them, and I want angst related to the job. I want mundane boring cases that go to crap and become anything but. I want pretty much every fandom cliche ever. I want Peter and Neal to have to go undercover as gay (and I want El to pic out clothes and judge their ability to kiss convincingly on command). I want anything with Mozzie or June, even their adventures while Neal and Peter are off solving crime one day (think The Zeppo from Buffy, what the sidekick gets up to when the heroes are busy). I want a case-oriented crossover with Leverage.

This is my latest obsession. I ship Chandler/Kent and love Chandler & Miles' friendship. I'd like casefic. Kent is one of my lovely characters that I like to torture a bit before they get their happy ending, so Kent being stalked or with an abusive significant other is a pretty common story that I like to play with in this fandom. I want Chandler's backstory. I want to see what happens a few years down the line when Miles retires. Who'll take his place. I want to see where they all are in ten years or fifteen. I want Chandler to get help for his OCD. I want case fic once again drawing on history, perhaps the Moors Murders of the '60s for instance. Honestly though, I can't imagine that there's anything for this fandom I don't want. It's so small.

There's also always room for at least one more SGA/Eureka crossover, but I really only read Eureka fic where Nathan is alive (and preferably going to end up with Jack, but I don't need that).

And I am perpetually looking for actual fic for The Chronicles of Amber. Crossovers with pretty much any fandom are much loved, after all, anything can be found in shadow. I adore Random best of all the brothers, Fiona is my favorite of the sisters, and I know they aren't as well liked but I do adore Merlin (and his brother Mandor and Ghostwheel). I'd love anything where Random and Merlin are forced to interact as Kings of Amber and Chaos respectively. Sibling incest is pretty common an idea in the canon of this series, so I really don't mind it is fic either. I've long thought that there needs to be some Merlin/Mandor fic out there, especially as they're only siblings by marriage anyway.
