I'm at work with relatively little to do, but I don't have the focus to actually write or do something else productive. I think my brain is still trying to recover from tax season ( Read more... )

Richard Castle
How I Feel about him.
I like Castle. I find his enthusiasm to be quite adorable, like you might an overgrown puppy. In the real world, I'm pretty certain he would make me want to strangle him a half a dozen times a day, but in TV land, I enjoy him.

Who I ship him with
Generally I'm a great bit multi-shipper, but not in this case. Castle clearly belongs with Beckett. I just hope they don't get there too quickly, because their not-really-a-relationship is a lot more fun than a real relationship would be.

My non-romantic OTP for him
This one is kind of hard, because most of his really strong connections outside of Beckett are family. Castle knows lots of people, and lots of people would call him friend, but I'm not really sure how many people know Castle. I'd say Beckett for this one too, if I didn't find the eventual romance to be so inevitable. At this point, I think he's kind of stuck with Ryan and Esposito. They may not know him like his family, or like Beckett, but they'd do just about anything for him.

My unpopular opionion about him.
Hmm, I honestly have no idea how to answer this one. Maybe, I don't always think he's a very good father. He adores Alexis, that's clear, and that means a lot, but too often, she has to be the responsible one, the grown-up, in their relationship.

One thing I wish would happen in canon
Castle needs a nemesis, a recurring bad guy who has some kind of history with Castle would be best. I feel like there's a general lack of the Big Bad on television these days, and particularly in non-magic types of shows. I'm not talking just a serial killer or something who shows up in an episode here and there to be conveniently caught or killed in the dramatic finale (or the first episode of the following season following a long hiatus with our heroes in mortal danger), that's too impersonal. This should mean something, serial killer, maybe. Maybe a professional rival who has allowed his forays into the darker side of human nature to twist him in ways that Castle never has. Someone clearly well-matched with Castle and who will keep coming back for at least a full season. Not that it can't end in the ways above, it almost has to, but it needs to be personal.
