The Vampire Lecture

So, if you read the last post, you know that there will probably be two more tonight. The first is this one, on the History of Vampires in Film & Television lecture that I went to on Friday. Later still, probably aproaching midnight, while I'm filling time waiting for NaNoWriMo to start, I'll also get a post up that deals with politics and the ( Read more... )

I'm coming to your posts in reverse, so maybe this will make more sense when I get to the first one, but what lecture is this and why were you at it (beyond the obvious, "it's about vampires in film, and it's AWESOME, WHAT MORE DO YOU NEED?").

I don't really have anything to contribute right now beyond 1. I should really start watching season 2 of True Blood. 2. You do not want to watch season 1 of True Blood with Mom or Dad and 3. There was mostly disdain, and some anger towards those groups, but not any real fear. Some of this dovetails nicely with some of the things I've been reading about as I prepare for my NaNovel, and deal with the ickiness that is current politics, and the way they play on fears ( ... )

Yes, I noticed too, that written vampires seem to be 20 years or so ahead of the curve. I found that interesting, though I'm not entirely certain of what to make of it. It might explain some of the differences from book to film, including some of the ones that most annoy me ( ... )
