A few days in Sydney

Mar 10, 2007 18:03

So, we've (Naomi, Bec and Myself) went away for a few days to Sydney. All for the best fucking reason ever. That would be the Fall Out Boy concert at the Hordern Pavillion.. But I should start at the start, I'm going to skip the boring bits and start off with the bus. Which in itself was boring I will admit but there were a few decent parts to it.

Wednesday 7th of March:
On the bus, majorly boring except for the use of iPods keeping our intense boredom at bay, somewhat at least. I fell asleep a few times. Stopping over at Nowra to switch buses and drivers and a food break we wandered around. Naomi and Bec bought some magazines and acted like little teenie boppers when they saw pictures of Fall Out Boy or Panic! But I was being normal. Or as normal as it possible for me to be. Which can be more normal than alot of people at times because I'm not as mental as people seem to say I am. Anyway. We then went looking for food and got a little lost. But found this little shop and we bought some sausagerolls. Best fucking sausagerolls I've ever fricking eaten. I wanted another but we didn't have time... So back on the bus.

We got to Sydney and had a few more stops before ours at central station. When the bus went to the International Airport Nai and I were sitting on the edge of our seats all excited and hyper and such. It was pretty funny. To me at least. I don't know if anyone else found it funny. Some probably found it immature and annoying. Who gives a fuck. I don't give a shite what anyone thinks... After that excitement was over it was the domestic airport. Which got me excited again at the thought Fall Out Boy were going to be there the next day..

Then we got to the hotel and almost died walking up all those damned stairs. I swear. It was a major fire hazzard/safety risk. No fire escapes. So if the place caught on fire we would've been dead due to being on the top floor.... Sucks to be us. Thank go that didn't happen. We then watched heroes at 8:30pm and then a few other shoes. Then went to bed. After setting our alarms for the next morning.

Thursday 8th of March:
Woke up at 7:00am. I was excited yet tired as all get out. It was shocking. My eyes didn't want to stay open, stupid things. After all of us showered we walked over to the Hordern Pavillion and looked for the end of the line. Finding out that there wasn't a whole bunch of people there we made our way to the end of a line and stood there waiting for the ground to dry as it had rained the night before/earlier in the morning. When it was a little dryer we sat down, even though our butts got a tad wet we didn't care. Going to be there all day they'd dry off sooner or later.

Naomi and Bec decided to go get a book and a few things for entertainment, which we used for eye spy, writting instead of talking, hangman and that was about it. That didn't last majorly long. An hour at the most. I would have played tetris on my phone but the battery was running low and I didn't want it to die. Which it would have if I played a game.. So I just sat there and read the newspaper.

At about midday or one the sun was really starting to get some sting in it and everyone was either putting up tarps, that they'd brought with them or going over to the shop and buying newspapers and masking tape, and mking little shelters by sticking the paper together then sticking it to the metal barracades that marked the lines. So we decided we wanted to do that as well, so Bec and I went to the shop and got a huge newspaper and tape, getting some more water at the same time as we were getting mildly dehydrated due to the damn heat. So when we got back we built our shelter. We only needed six sheets of paper so we hadn't needed the really big paper but we didn't care.

So that was all fine and dandy. Earlier in the day Bec thought it would be cool to document things we were doing, every half hour. I think we forgot a couple of times but that didn't matter because she just went back and filled it in anyway. Bec was listening to her iPod and Scott's basically all day but she shared with Nai and I from time to time. We listened to RJA(Red Jumpsuit Apparatus) -swoons- for a few songs. Well that was actually before we built the shelter and before Nai and Bec went to get lunch but meh. So then Bec and I started writting a story, taking it in turns to write a sentence. Naomi helped as well but then she didn't want to anymore so Bec and I kept it going. It turned out fairly twisted but it was something to fill in the time.

So then we were told people had to move if they needed a bag checked. So I moved, well first we all did then we realised we'd lose our spot in line if we all moved so Naomi and Bec moved back to where we'd been and I stayed in the bag line, hence I got sunburnt like a bitch. Which was my own fault for not wearing suncream but that's alright. Was worth it. A few hours went by and everyone was getting annoyed at having to move. So far not a whole heap of people had shown up, which was good. But then come about 5:30 loads more people started rocking up. Which was getting exciting because it would mean it was going to be so fucking loud in there I wouldn't be able to hear myself think. Plus add on the music and we're set.

6:30 rolls around and we're all getting bored, after bec went to get the camera and we got our meet and greet wrist bands. Yellow I was getting more excited and hyper even though the person that put my wristband on did it up too tight and stuck it to my arm hairs.. Cutting off the circulation and painful but I didn't care because it meant after the show I would get to meet the band. Hurrah.

7:00 came along after it rained and we all looked like drowned rats, but it was nice, so much cooler. Naomi and Bec made some friends while in the other line and I had to wave so they knew who I was. I made a friend, well not really but I talked to someone. Because she noticed we were both getting to go to the M&G which was awesome. So then the bag line started moving, before that I'd got my ticket off Bec just incase they went in before me. Which was smart since they did. So I got the bag checked, paid for it and put away, then got another wrist band with the number of my bag on which I had to keep on to get my bag back at the end of the night. Then I went in to find bec and nai, after having my ticket checked of course. I found them by the merch booth and we bought merch and went inside. Walking straight up the front to the most. We were the second line from the front.

AMAZING SPOT.

7:30 Avalon Drive came on. They were fucking amazing, and this time I actually knew some of their songs so could sing along. Too bad they didn't play Pictures but they were still amazing. They did a half an hour set and almost everyone in the mosh was jumping and screaming, they were getting everyone excited for when FOB would come on stage after Trial Kennedy. 8:00 AD left the stage and TK started getting ready for their 1/2 hour set.

8:30 TK came on stage and rocked. They were pretty damned good. I'd only heard one of their songs before on their Myspace (Check them out they're in my top friends) and they were awesome. 9:00 TK left the stage and the crowd was starting to get restless, started chanting FALL OUT BOY. FALL OUT BOY. A couple of times but that failed and we stood their singing along to the music playing over the speakers. AAR came on and almost everyone in the pavillion was singing along. Sounded pretty awesome I must admit.

9:30 the lights went dim and the remix of "This Ain't A Scene, It's An Arms Race" started playing and everyone started to scream, then we started chanting FALL OUT BOY again and again until we all screamed so loud when they came on. The security were walking around at this point drenching everyone with bottles of water, which felt good. I've never screamed so much in my life, even at The Veronicas concert. But this time it was FOB so it was understanding. Despite almost getting squished to death it was amazing. Pete reffered to Australia as the girl in highschool they always wanted to make out with but never got the chance to. Then he went on to say "So we're going to fucking make out tonight" which cause everyone to scream even more. They also love the Aussie accent, who doesn't .

Half way through they went off for a break and Dirty came on. Said Avalon Drive had been teaching them about cricket and had a cricket bat(or paddle as he called it) with him. He then chose two people from the crowd to smack him in the ass with it. They didn't do a good job and we got to boo them off the stage. Then Chuck smacked him with it. Everyone laughed. Yada. Yada. Then after another couple of minutes he got us to chant. Mother fucking FOB. Mother fucking FOB, until the boys came back on stage. Played more songs and then after another half an hour or so it was over. Which meant we'd be getting to meet them soon.

While everyone else was being ushered out 30-40 people were left over and allowed to meet the boys. So we waited around. Were then told to go sit up in the stands on the left of the stage and given instructions by Chuck. He was pretty cool. Tough yet cool. I mean they have to have rules otherwise we'd all be there forever and they can't do that because well it's just stupid and bed would have been good sooner rather than later. It was just general things everyone would have thought to be sensible. Don't talk to much. No cameras out during signing session. Etc. And above all no crying. I thought that one was funny. Maybe it was just me but I wasn't the only one to laugh. We then got put in a single filed line and started going into the room to get our things signed. The guys were amazingly nice. I know they're probably supposed to be that way but they were seriously awesome. A went after Naomi and Bec.

What they all said while signing my album cover of "Infinity on High" was:
Pat: 'Hey how are you?'
Me: 'I'm great thanks, and yourself?'
Pat: 'I'm good thank you.'
Andy: 'Hey. How's it going?'
Me: 'Good. Thanks heaps.'
Jo: 'Hey, do you think love stinks too? Did you like the show?'(Nai had gone before me and was wearing a shirt that said love stinks)
Me: 'Hi. Yeah it does, the show was amazing.'
Jo: 'Thanks.'
Pete: 'Hey. Thanks for coming. There you go.' (and he handed me my autographed CD cover)
Me: 'Thanks heaps.'

Then I walked out and went to the end of the line. We then got our photo taken with them... Naomi, Bec and Myself with the 4 guys. Then they thanked us and Naomi said "No thank you" and Pete gave her a funny look. But that's alright. It was pretty funny. Then we Bec went to get us water while Nai and I waited in line to get my bag back. While we were walking back to the hotel it hadn't sunk in what had just happened but it was alright.

Friday 9th of March:
We had to get up to be out of the room by 10am. Which was cool. We bummed around Pitt Street mall for a few hours then wandered back to Central where we'd have to catch the bus at 3. It was either a 9am bus or a 3pm bus.. Nai and I decided on the 3pm since we wouldn't be up by 9. Which I wasn't sure if Bec was pissed off about or not.. She seemed to be but I don't know. I didn't ask so I guess I wont know. I'm over it anyway so doesn't bother me. The bus trip was boring. We didn't talk much, probably 3 sentences in whole the entire trip back. I fell asleep a few times then by 8:40pm we were back in the bay and just had to wait a few minutes for dad to come pick us up from the bus stop. We then went home and went straight to bed. So buggered.

All in all it was the best concert ever. Even though I've only been to 2 in total but I LOVED IT. Got so sweaty and gross but it was amazing.. Must go again if they come back.. HAVE TO.
