I went to the ice hockey again this weekend, where the Knights hosted the Sydney Bears. Predictably we lost (4-1), but they played a lot better this week! There was actual defence/offence happening! Go go bbs. *\o/* (One of the defensive strategies was a well-timed fall to the ice. Surprisingly effective actually.)

The game got off to an exciting start when the Bears scored a goal less than a minute into play, but then Mike Brown (our goalie) held them off through the rest of the first period. Then in the second period the Bears scored a goal except it was disallowed for goalie interference.

And then right towards the end of the second period, in the most exciting moment of the match, there was a massive scrum in front of the Knights' goal which resulted in Brown being sent off for fighting. Nice as it is to have a goalie for an enforcer, I hope he doesn't do it again because the Bears scored 3 times in the third period. Once was right at the end on an empty net though. (Amusingly the Bears shot twice at the empty net and completely missed the first time.) The Knights only scored one goal but it was a good one; they got really fired up for it. Same again but for the whole match next time, please?

I took another picture, too - you can see the seating at the rink, the way the players exit (out the same way as the crowd, and since they were a bit later coming off the ice this team after saluting the crowd, they shuffled off with everyone else) and some people wearing NHL jerseys.

Happily this time I saw someone wearing a Blackhawks jersey and someone wearing a Kings jersey. Also some guy with a leather jacket onto which he had sewn the logo of every NHL team. So many logos!

In other news, you can now watch a highlights video of the Knights' last home game here, by which I mean you can see the fight (for which it turns out #88, Lucas Schott, got suspended for) in the first video and the actual hockey in the second. The second one also has the cowbell soundtrack for great justice.

You can also watch Melbourne Ice streaming live video of their games here if you're interested.
