Koutake Haruki | di[e]ce - 3/4 powerforwisdom March 13 2010, 02:45:52 UTC
PERSONALITY | Kazuki-holic? lol I kid.

Haruki is a very composed individual; the world could be going to hell in a handbasket and the only thing on his mind would be is Kazuki okay!? how to get out of there in one piece. He's quite the thinker and seems to be the more academically inclined one of the pair. While Haruki is really good at figuring things out - he intends to find a way to stop the game of di[e]ce that he and Kazuki are wrapped up in - he isn't one for video games preferring to read a book instead. As a result, he sometimes misses some of the clues that Kazuki notices right off the bat. Being the smart kid that he is though, Haruki's catching up fast.

While the one constant goal is to kill the opposing king no matter what, Haruki seems to be an individual who prefers finding a peaceful resolution or avoiding a fight all together. Unlike Kazuki, who jumped on the opportunity to kill everyone in the game for the sake of making it interesting, Haruki was greatly opposed to the idea. "You feel pain when someone hits you, right? It's the same for the other person!" Even before that outburst, Haruki was shown running away from the students so that he wouldn't have to fight them.

Which isn't to say that he's helpless and incapable of fighting. The manga makes sure you see him standing amongst a group of dead students wiping blood off his hands. He just doesn't like the idea of killing each other for the sake of a game. He probably doesn't like the idea of killing in general, from the way Haruki keeps trying to avoid fights and stave off the prompting from his player pieces when they were trapped in the school.

Overall, he is pretty much the opposite of Kazuki in terms of philosophy. Find him outside of a life or death situation, then you'll find that Haruki is very well-mannered and soft-spoken; a relief from Kazuki's outgoing and casual personality.
