About two months ago, I purchased a new katana for myself. A real katana, not the cheap stainless steal and plastic peice of garbage I had before. Real authentic high carbon swiss steel, real wood for the handle wrapped in ray skin and suede. The blade is differentially tempered and highly polished. I was really impressed with the sword. Cutting practice revealed it was nearly as sharp as advertised (not quite "surgically" sharp, as had been promised, but still sharp enough to cleanly cut through the various paper, plastic, and cardboard materials I used). The only problem I have with it is the sheath - it's made from soft pine wood and is poorly lacquered. I asked a friend of mine to hold the sheath for me while I was cleaning the blade, and he foolishly swung it around. Luckily, he wasn't swinging it hard, but nearly the entire length of the finish is dented and scratched. I need it replaced, but have no idea where to have the sheath custom made for me, or how to construct my own (I would rather not have to hand carve it).

I know a few of you on my friends list have experience with swords, any advice?
