Farscape: A Human Reaction and Looking Glass.
We've already established that Chiana is epic. I adore her :D She's like Tinker Bell but with a real personality. Aeryn I'm still having trouble loving, and I have no idea why. I can accept that she's a brilliant character it's just I think there aren't enough episodes about her, showing character development.
That's the one weakness I've spotted: Farscape doesn't do much in the way of character development. I mean sure, the characters have changed since the beginning, and we can see them trusting each other more etc, but we're not shown how it happens. Like, there are no episodes that I've watched where a character is really challenged. Granted, I haven't watched many, but still.
Also, I don't think the John/Aeryn ship is being handled very well. It's very episodic - something happens and then it's not mentioned again. Like - THEY HAD SEX. That is HUGE in my book. And yet the next episode they act exactly the same to each other! No awkwardness, no secret looks, no sexual tension. NO AFTERMATH. Very disappointing, I think. And the whole relationship just seems to be handled awkwardly - you can see they're friends, but there's no jolt of chemistry when they touch, not enough concentration on the relationship. I'm sure it gets better later on - this show is infamous for the ship, but atm I am not impressed.
Sigh.
The episodes themselves are great though - Human Reaction was such an interesting concept. In fact, I want to expand on it - I want to see or write a film where the aliens come to Earth but we turn out to be the monsters. And Looking Glass, while not what I expected, was brilliant. Very out-of-the-box storytelling, which was what I wanted :) Plus the ending was great :D
