I haz been watching Mad Men...
... and it is so interesting from a feminist perspective. Very well done as well. I love how they haven't sugar coated it, or had the men on the show "ahead of their time" by respecting women or something. I like how real it is. And honestly, it makes my skin crawl. How the women are treated... *shudder* I felt almost physically repulsed, which was a shockingly strong reaction. Tbh I was worried of this, and only started watching because of Vincent Kartheiser (and because I was bored). But Vincent's character... *more shudders*
But very well done. I don't know whether it's a show I'll LOVE, but it's a show that interests me and is engaging. I do feel like I have to go watch Buffy now though, for some women power. (Actually got Faith, Hope and Trick next, as I just finished the book Go Ask Malice. Not a literary masterpiece, but great for giving Faith background. And I loved spotting the series references. The insight it gave into her phsyche was brilliant. But I digest.) And I feel I should watch some AtS for Connor because Vincent on AtS is win.
I also watched the first episode of Episodes, if anyone knows it. It's written by the same people that did Friends, and I simultaneously disgusted and impressed myself by spotting recycled Friends lines. EG: "did you weld this shut?!" said while trying to open a bra. Can't give you the name of the Friends ep (pfft who knows names?!) or the series (in my defence they're shown on e4 without season breaks so how would I know?) but I can tell you exactly which episode it is, the premise, the situation this line comes from and most of the lines around it. I'm pretty sure I just proved I know the show better than the writers (especially if they put that line in accidentally).
Pretty arts are coming I PROMISE. Hopefully I'll get my HBIC20in20 done, as I've only got 5 more to go. Think I'll do Illyria next round cos I ADORE HER.

PS: to win the right to borrow Mad Men off my friend I had to eat the MOST DISGUSTING jelly bean ever. Just... ugh. It is the only time I've ever WANTED to throw up, simply to get this thing out of me. But I did it. The most I've ever done for dvds. *shudder*
