Hiya! So I'm at work, bored, and have been meaning to post this for ages now. You know that play I'm in? That I've been talking about for ages? Well I thought it was high time I actually explained it to y'all!
So our play is called Spirit of Albion! It's wierd, kinda a pagan musical deelie, but really good. We wrote so we would know ;P Here's a plot synopsis:
There are these 3 young adults, Esther, Annie and George, all of whom are facing a crisis in their lives. Esther is crushed by her job, Annie is facing a mundane life mixed with drug abuse, and George has been wounded at a protest rally. They are lead by 3 guides (who turn out to be pagan gods!!) to a forest on Samhain Eve (which is NOT pronounced SAM HAIN as SPN wrongfully did!!).
Basically the play is just about their journey, and what the pagan ways can teach us. It's tremendous fun to be in! I play Morrighan, who is the Irish goddess of death, furtility and royalty. She's great to play - really snarky and angry but sensitive too :D
But thanks to the INTERNET!! I have been unable to stop SHIPPING EVERYONE!!! :D Here's my favourite ships...
- Annie/Esther: this is my absolute fave! They're my best friends, which is kinda wierd! But the ship is sooo cracky :D Esther's really sweet but fierce, and enthusiastic about finding out about paganism. Annie's cynical, dark, addicted to drugs, but funny and compassionate. SUCH a good ship you have no idea. Plus my friends have sparkling chemistry, so that helps. :D
- Morrighan/Robin: this is such a great ship. I may very well fanfic it (cos I'm that sad!). Think of it - the Goddess of death and the Trickster! SPN did it. That's how awesome it is :D
- Esther/George: just cute, plus pretty canon.
- Morri/George: I used to ship this, but not very much any more. Still great though/
- Annie/Herne: Herne is god of animal, trees etcetc. He's Pan, if you know pagan legends. And he's played so wierd and creepy but attractive!! And Annie and he have great chemistry, and sing about each other :D
- Ceridwen/Priest: the artistic muse (Esther's guide) and the Priest with a crisis of faith (Annie's brother). Cute :D
- Morrighan/Arianrhod: because they're like the same person! Ari is goddess of fate. And we often sing togehter :D Plus the girl who plays Ari is hot and I love her.
- Ari/George: because she totally killed him because he's hot and she wants him.
- Morri/George/Ari: hehehehehe :D
There are many more, but I won't bore you! You know, more than I already have. :P The fun thing is, I've told everyone about these ships! It's hilarious fun. Everyone thinks I'm nuts, but we've been working in shippy hints! Ceri and Herne actually have sex (kinda) at one point :D Although they're canon so I don't ship them :P On the last night we're gonna have an orgy :P
....
I am kidding, don't worry!
There is just one other thing I want to share with you. It's my favourite song from the play, one that I think of whenever Supernatural pisses me off with their destruction of pagan gods...
Green and Grey
Ari/Morri: Early one morning, around the first of May,
A man in black came walking into a woodland glade,
Following the sounds of pipes of this beautiful Spring day.
High on the music that they made.
But what beheld him within this place?
A look of recognition fell across his face.
Priest: Lucifer, oh Lucifer why do you appear to me?
For I am a man of God, a priest.
Herne and Gods: I'm no devil I'm father to the land.
I have lived here since the Earth began.
Neither black nor white,
Priest hear what I say.
I'm green and grey.
Priest: Lucifer, Lucifer you lie so well.
I will pray unto my God now go back to the fires of Hell!
You fell from Heaven, and you fell from Grace.
You want dominion over this place.
Ari/Morri: The Piper smiled, and to the priest he said.
Herne: I was Lord of Animals, the wild hunt I led.
Until your God came here and with his jealous hand,
It was he who wanted dominion over this land.
(Chorus)
Priest: All evil comes from your hand.
Herne: If evil is, well it lies in the hearts of man.
Priest: But you lead us, oh you tempt us,
To rape to steal, to kill.
Herne: Whatever happened to free will?
Yeah, it goes on for another verse after that. Which is when Ceri and Herne get it on :D Basically I love the message of this song. Because it's unfair to demonise pagan gods, like SPN does. Btw this song is by Damh the Bard and is available on itunes. When I get home I'll post a youtube link, if I can find one. It's a great song.
At some point I'll post the poem I wrote about pagan gods, which is in the show actually :D But not right now because this post is long enough as it is!
Anyway, I hope you enjoyed reading about the play. If you live near London it's running from the 1st to the 3rd of July, so send me a pm and I'll give you details. Cos it's going to be awesome!
I should really get back to being bored at work, though, so I'll leave you with this: BUFFY IS FUCKING EPIC!!!!!!!!!!! ;D
xx
PS: I'm missing Dr Who to work. Grrrr...
