Radio 1190 is in the last leg of it's Fall Pledge Drive. We are raising $50,000 in 8 days for the future of independent radio. If we don't make this money we may not be able to be on the air anymore so the urgency is there (plus we are behind) if you can donate even $10 please do so if for nothing else but to preserve an independent media resource in a sea of corporations. Protect independent radio and fight mediocre corporate garbage.
We know this means something to you, if you ever worked in college radio, if you ever had friends that did, or if you have ever listened and loved it, then you need to donate. We won't be able to bring the mix of great music and specialty shows if we don't make the goal.
Let's break it down.
This money is raised from you, the listeners, so that we have the ESSENTIALS of electricity, rent, FCC liscencing fees, etc. This isn't the money that we use to pay the (very few) student managers, and we don't use it to go out and buy CDs or anything, it's just so we have a place and the means to broadcast.
The University gives us NO money. The Colorado Public Radio foundation gives us NO money. We raise this $50k 2 times a year, get a small portion from students, and a small portion from underwriting with local businesses.
We HAVE to do it so we can stay on the air, otherwise we will meet our demise like so many other community supported radio stations have.
We know you listen to more than just us, but consider how much enjoyment and how much you do listen to Radio 1190, and then realize that you can pay monthly installments, get concert tickets, CDs, gift certificates, and a whole host of other goodies if you call and donate.
We're trying to make it as painless as possible. Just please call, because if you don't, in one year, I might be posting about how our station is being sold or taken away from the students.
