“Our wager,” Dorian urged the dwarf, planting his hands on the table top as he leaned forward. “The one from last week.”
“Yeah, yeah,” Varric waved his hand dismissively as he returned to shuffling the deck of playing cards in hands.
“The one you have yet to pay me for,” Dorian pressed the topic more.
“They haven't made a single move in either direction,” Varric snorted, “So no cake, Sparkler.”
The doors to the Great Hall opened, the Commander running his gloved fingers through his wind blown hair to straighten it while he idly chattered with the Inquisitor, who was reading over several pages as she walked beside him.
“Commander,” Evelyn chuckled at something that Cullen had said for the two of them only, flushing prettily, her cheeks pink, eyes shining. Cullen rested his palm on the curve of Evelyn's back, guiding her easily through the visiting dignitaries and nobles crowding the Great Hall.
“How about we raise that wager?” Dorian hummed, leaning back against the table as he watched the two mingled through the crowd.
“Raise? I thought you wanted your coin?” Varric asked, brow raised curiously as he set the deck of cards onto the table.
Dorian tapped his chin, casting him a look over his shoulder, “It seems you are right in the matter. So how about we add another forty royals on top of the bet?” The mage gave a shrug as he leaned on the table, reaching out out to cut the deck, stacking the cards back together.
“That sounds fun, Sparkler,” Varric chuckled, watching the pair at his own leisure. Dorian slid into the seat across from him as he started to deal out cards. He hadn't proposed they play a game of Wicked Grace, but he knew the Tevinter wouldn't decline in the least, “I'm all in.”
Dorian grinned wide, gathering his cards and looking at them, “That's more that spirit!”
“You say that now,” Varric shook his head.
