Dragon Age (any), any + any or ensemble, "I still don't get Wicked Grace." "Then how do you keep winning?" --
Evelyn Trevelyan watched as Varric dealt the four of them cards, resting her chin on her hand as she caught the gaze of her Commander from across the table, who scrunched his nose as he peeked at his cards. She couldn’t help but feel a little cheerful as she quickly scanned her cards, before tossing her bet into the pile.
Dorian tapped his fingers on the wooden surface of the table as they waited for him to make a decision, his attention completely on his cards that he had been dealt, “You know, I still don’t get Wicked Grace one bit.”
Cullen narrowed his eyes, snorting under his breath, “Then how is it that you keep winning?”
Evelyn snickered under her breath, as Varric shook his head, “You know Curly, for someone as bright as you, you would have figured Sparkler here has been cheating the whole time.”
“You do play chess with him, you know,” Evelyn winked at Cullen, only causing the Commander to grumble unhappily as she tapped her cards. Dorian tossed in his bet with a flourish of his hand.
“Chess isn’t like Wicked Grace,” Cullen said.
Varric gave a nod to the pool of royals on the table, “Cheating is everything in this game.”
Cullen laid his cards down and pushed his chair back, standing to attention, “I have more important things to attend to, if you’ll excuse me.”
Dorian chuckled, “Running off early, I see.”
“If you want to earn your dignity back Commander,” Evelyn drug her bottom lip through her teeth as she let her olive gaze drift along Cullen’s form, which only caused her advisor to clear his throat and cross his arms. Evelyn left the implications her words held sit there as she stared up at him sweetly, only making Cullen clench his teeth, the heat gathering at the tips of his ears.
“He’s not up to the challenge, Inquisitor, best let him be,” Varric chuckled, tossing in a few more sovereigns into the pile. “Ruffles did a bang up job the last time. It wouldn't surprise me if he left.”
Without any hesitation, Cullen sat back down and matched Varric’s raise, “Not yet.”
“Much better,” Evelyn winked and gave another peek to her cards before happily meeting the bet.
