“You tripped,” Orion floated above her as she shifted on the ground, pulling her throbbing ankle out from under her.
“It doesn’t hurt as much as you think,” she gave a forced smile to the fairy, knowing Orion wouldn’t believe her.
And just like she’d thought, the fairy floated closer toward her, sitting Indian-style, concern completely taking over, “I wish I could help!”
“But you can’t Orion,” she chuckled, gripping the spot on her ankle tightly, hissing in pain, another painful laugh leaving her lips, “you’re not even corporal.”
“I can’t just leave you in the woods!”
“Give me a minute, I’ll catch up with the others in a bit. I have my flashlight, see?” She gave the fairy a reassuring smile, though it didn’t ease his nerves.
