“She’s growing up so quick,” Inuyasha chuckled from on the other side of the fire pit, idly stirring the food in the kettle. “She looks a lot like you.”
Kagome continued to bounce the baby in her lap as she cooed to the young toddler, “I bet she looks a lot like you did when you were this young.”
Inuyasha flushed, but kept quiet, eliciting another chuckle from his wife.
The bamboo curtain lifted, Miroku entering their cozy home. The monk bowed, but did not sit as he glanced to Inuyasha, “The neighboring village has sent word that a demon is terrorizing their crops.”
Nodding, the hanyou stood, grabbing his sword and slipping in into his obi. Kagome paused before she rose as well, “Wait, before you go,” she paused, their child cradled on her hip as she gripped Inuyasha’s arm gently.
“Yeah, K’gome?” He turned to face her.
Kagome stood on her tip toes and pressed her lips to his in a loving kiss, before she reached up and tweaked one of the furry triangles atop his head. He rumbled an appreciative growl in his chest before he pushed her hair back from her face, cupped her cheek and pressed a kiss to her brow.
“Be safe,” she whispered, pulling away reluctantly.
“Keh,” he grinned and ruffled their daughter’s hair before turning back to Miroku who just stood there, smiling secretively. Inuyasha snorted and pushed through the door, not waiting for Miroku to follow him.
The monk smiled at Kagome, “He’s grown.”
Kagome nodded happily, “He has, but he’s still the same Inuyasha on the inside.”
“True.” Miroku lifted the bamboo covering and paused again, “We’ll be back in a few days, nothing to worry about.”
“I’ll take care of Sango and the kids.” Kagome gave a couple of light bounces of her hip, keeping her daughter entertained as the child cooed.
“Thank you.” Miroku smiled and exited, leaving Kagome alone with her daughter as she went back to sitting by the fire, to finish cooking their evening meal.
