The hanyou pushed back the bamboo curtain that lead into their home. “Kagome, I got those rabbits you wanted,” he said, pausing as he noticed his wife comfortably snuggled and entangled up on their shared futon. Her soft snores were easy for his hyper hearing to decipher.
Inuyasha couldn’t help the fanged grin that spread across his cheeks as he stepped up and walked the short distance to the fire pit. He set the string of rabbits down and dropped to the floor unceremoniously into a cross-legged position. He cast an amber gaze on his wife and then to her extended belly she had half covered. A feeling of pride rushed through him, causing him to release a low rumble from deep in his chest.
It was then he decided to let Kagome sleep in a bit longer as he went about cleaning the fur off of the rabbits. She would appreciate the help and he was glad to lend the hand where she allowed him.
When his task had been complete, Inuyasha washed the blood from his hands and claws, before stepping back into their home. He smiled softly at the image of Kagome with her disheveled hair framing her heart shaped face.
Inuyasha shrugged out of his haori and pulled Tetsusaiga from his obi and leaned the sword against the wooden beam. Carefully, he lowered himself to the futon, easing under the lbit of covers left that hadn’t been bunched up underneath Kagome. He gently encircled her in the comfort of his arms as he spooned her in the mid-morning light that poured through the window.
Inhaling her scent from her hair as he buried his nose against her neck, Inuyasha found himself content and happy with his life choices. Kissing her shoulder, he whispered, “I'm home, K’gome.”
