The fear curdling in her stomach made her body ache as she forced herself into motion, the rain pelting her skin, “Grab his legs and we’ll move him into the office!” Kagome hoarsely called out to the shell-shocked woman still staring dazed at the bloody body.
“You’re not suppose to move them from the scene,” she whimpered, shaking her head, stepping backward on unsteady legs. Her wedge heels caught in the mud, taking hold of her and making her topple onto her rump.
Kagome grit her teeth, knowing that the woman wasn’t going to be much help for either of them, “He’s bleeding,” she carefully made her way through the debris and crouched near the man’s body, her hands grabbing a hold of the thick material of his tattered bomber jacket, “We have to do something to help him.”
Realizing that the woman wasn’t going to budge, Kagome took a depth breath, as she blinked rapidly against the rain weighing her eyelashes down. She holstered the man into her lap, listening to a gargled moan of protest. Her heart pounded in her skull, her hands finding a better grip on the man’s body to holster him up against her chest as she slowly rose, her arms leveraged under the man’s.
“Just keep calm,” she mumbled, her vision clouded by long soaked black hair, “I’m just moving you to the office.”
“Nn,” the man moaned, his head lulling to the front as she waddled backward half carrying his weight against her chest, his heels dragging on the blacktop of the parking lot.
Kagome heaved a sighed, her stomach lurching upward, the smell of copper assaulting her nose, “A little more,” she mumbled, looking over her shoulder as the office door came into reach, “Just a little closer.”
