Has anyone ever thought of the evolution of the housecat? I mean, seriously!
Here is an animal, honed to perfection through time and evolution to be the ultimate killing machine of small animals. They have excellent eyesight, even better hearing, and a sense of touch that is especially noted in the whiskers. They have excellent balance, and claws and teeth that are designed to hold on and not let go. They can sneak around without being heard, and once they get you, you're dead. That is, if "you" in a mouse or bird.
I am sure that in the wild, the cat would prowl around by night, doing all kinds of mysterious and dangerous things: Hunting mice, birds, anything. Climbing trees, and using that natual arrogance to look over the land and proclaim with a loud "meow" that "this is mine - and it is good"
Now take the domesticated housecat. His big hunt is when a fly enters his lofty domain. He prowls the elusive human in hunt of tablescraps, and a chance at a full food bowl. And heaven forbid that there should be a pen or small plastic cap that gives him attitude!
