Fucking assholes who run the theatre- a CHILDREN’S THEATRE but don’t know a shit about CHILDREN!!
OK- I feel a little better now…
Let me explain…
Jas has been sick for the last several days.
I thought she had a sinus infection.
I took her to the doctor today.
It is NOT a sinus infection.
It is strep throat.
She is supposed to be in Les Miserables THIS week.
Tonight is supposed to be dress rehearsal- MANDATORY Dress rehearsal.
Obviously she can’t go.
We drove straight to the theatre to talk to the director- explain that she can be at rehearsal tomorrow- but NOT tonight. He tried to cut her from the show completely! ASSHOLE!!!! I had to practically BEG him to not cut her. I told him I had brought him a doctor’s note. I told him she wouldn’t be contagious the next night. He wanted me to personally guarantee that no one else in the production would get strep. How can I promise that? I don’t even know where she got it- I told him the doctor promised that tomorrow she would not be contagious and that it was on the note that I brought him. Begged and pleaded some more, and finally got him to tell me that she could come to tomorrow’s rehearsal. Asshole. He wouldn’t even come down and speak to me- only spoke to me on the phone and I left the note at the desk. I was almost in tears when I left. The guy at the desk tried to console me. He explained that “He doesn’t have kids. He doesn’t understand.” And “It will be ok.” And other such things.
I don’t hate people. And I try desperately not to stay angry. But this guy…. Whew…
I know in a few days I’ll see the show- she’ll be wonderful, she’ll be feeling better, and I’ll move on. But for now- I’m freaking fuming!
Oh yeah- BTW- Even with strep- she got one of the Silent Night solos- in case anyone was wondering...
