Last (some day, all the days are blending together because I was on vacation), I took Lu to this carousel museum, which, confusingly to me, is the Herschell Carrousel Museum, spelled with two "r"s because that was the company's actual name, but then in all their materials, they use carousel with one "r" when talking about the thing that is a ( Read more... )

I find that remarkable given how much time we had together in cars recently, and thus how much time you have had to listen to me.

Seriously, you would have liked this museum ... it's a bit more of an actual museum than the Kazoo Museum, but still a lot of looking at random old equipment.

My parents have a player piano (that barely works) in their basement. The people who had the house built (and then years later sold it to my parents) had the foundation poured, then lowered the piano into that basement, then had the rest of the house built around it. It's not going anywhere in one piece, is what I'm saying.

Also, I like bagpipe music. In moderation. Banjoes are cool too.

I know several people who have a "bonus pool table!" that came with their home purchase for this reason, but this is the first I have ever heard of a piano!

It's one of those things I am obsessed with, if you take "obsessed" to mean "I get sort of into it when I remember to do it, but I forget about it whenever I'm not actually doing it at the moment." I stick some on posts that are more photos of stuff (as opposed to photos of my kid or actual people, for whom the primary audience is people I know) just to see what happens. The years get a lot of activity, as does "tile" and anything in the New York City/NYC/New York family. Probably my favorite was when I posted a picture of an old thermostat, and a while later got a nice comment from a regional power company in the UK, so there is a person who does social media for a regional power company who periodically browses instagram for thermostats.

And I can't think of a good example right now, but there have been times when I've used a tag and didn't realize right away that the word has multiple meanings, and then been surprised at what comes up.
