I'm too lazy to think of a better subject title right now. I guess I'll start by writing about what I'm writing about:
I've finally settled on themes for my book. Yeah, I know -- I wrote all this stuff and I still don't have the characters and ideas 100%. Anyways, the two big themes are metempsychosis and destiny versus free will. I've decided to make the book adult too since it does contain deicide (even if it has absolutely nothing to do with real religions on Earth). Aside from that, it is fairly violent and treacherous too although mostly in a man versus nature sense. The few instances in which the main characters are having conflict are very brutal though. As for the genre, I think dark fantasy fits the bill. I haven't settled on a name for the book yet, but I think it's safe to say that it's one of the last things I'll work on in regards to the book.
I went to the Haeundae beach in Busan, and now I can see why everybody who teaches in the southern part of Korea wants to live in Busan. It's the best beach in South Korea, and foreigners flock to it like flies in shit. They had an international dance festival on the waterfront with the ocean in the background which was absolutely gorgeous. The sand festival was also going on, so there were all sorts of sand castles and monuments. In sand I saw the Eiffel Tower, the White House, and the Great Wall. There were a ton of other really awesome sand castles too. I got a little sunburned, but not enough to ruin my day. Had a few beers, ate some food, and chatted with the bartenders a bit before heading back to Changwon. It was a great weekend. I already checked out the museum, but I still need to see the aquarium and hike from the beach to Dongbaek island. I'm looking forward to it. I have a feeling I'll end up taking more weekend trips to Haeundae than any other place in South Korea though. I still need to check out Seoul some time too.
I'm about to get my first real paycheck without my training hours on it and I can't wait. Since they pay by the month here, it's just going to be a fat load of money I'll throw in the bank.
Now that I've been here for a month I can write about how my life changed since I left Michigan. To be honest, it really hasn't changed too much. All the time I spent cleaning the house has just turned into time I'm working to earn money teaching. Also, a lot of the time I spent playing video games in Michigan has become time that I just wander around Korea or get people to show me cool stuff. The fantastic thing about Korea is that it's extremely cheap to travel and eat out here. A good meal for one person can cost as low as $2, and the best part is that you don't tip the servers and there's no tax on food service. A round trip to Busan costs only $13. I haven't even seen half of what Changwon has to offer yet either since I'm waiting for my first paycheck. Of course, when I don't feel like spending money or the time is too awkward to start something then I might go back to the video games or writing. Since my video game options are severely limited, I usually just end up writing. That's all for today! Till later!
