I had seen
The Hourly Radio when they were on tour with
Shiny Toy Guns last month. Apparently they headlined a tour in the UK with
*Stellastarr* in 2006. I find that odd since I had heard of *Stellastarr* at the club and on XM way before The Hourly Radio. I guess things are just different in the UK and the interest emphasis flips somewhere in mid-Atlantic transit.
I've watched the
video on YouTube for "Deaf Ears" and I must say, I'm impressed not only with the "cuteness" of the guys in the band but the refeneces to pop culture in their music. Cute, smart, Southern boys with a band...can't go wrong there. I'm just laughing at the fact that they are mentioned on
Miss Florida USA's website. I don't know how their review ended up on this e-zine but, hey, I guess good publicity comes from all places. Maybe someone sitting there designing their website has good taste or something and wants to make sure everyone knows that the beauty pagent thing won't brainwash them into listening to country...or something.
I had started writing this post but, thanks to whatever it is that's screwing up on my site, I lost the initial entry I had with links and comments that were much better. I don't get what is going on with this thing. First of all, I am getting emails to my Yahoo account that I have 30+ comments to moderate each day. Of course it's all spam shit that Akismet isn't filtering out. I guess that plugin wasn't working for a while and it goes back and forth. At least I know I'm not the only one with that problem.
Then, Wordpress will tell me that I don't have permissions to continue doing what I was doing. I was thinking it was because I was uploading stuff to the server at the same time but even after shutting that down and trying again, the stupid site won't let me back in. So I randomly try to update the site to no avail.
My last lost post was about the horror I experienced by seeing the
Mark Ronson video for
"Stop Me" on
VH1 early one morning. In light of my upcoming
Morrissey show I just can't imagine why in the hell a guy who isn't at huge, big, I'm a rock-God status would even consider remaking a kick ass song. I mean, look at
Orgy and their first big hit as the remake of "Bizarre Love Triangle." Not only had the song been done before, but to make that be your first big single, no original music will ever compare. It's just bad judgement on the musician's part. I say do remakes on tour, on B-sides, but come on, not as your big number one hit. Plus, he mixed the stupid song with The Supremes. A boy band sounding guy singing, "Who said I lied to her...set me free why don't you babe..." is just grotesque.
