mica thus far
it has been so amazing. i really feel balanced and at peace, so different from the cloud of tension that existed at home. class begins monday, and i really am very happy with my schedule.
throughout orientation there have been activities with our orientation leaders, current students at mica. however, none of these activities could have prepared me or given any hint of the outrageous-ness of EXTREME BINGO. So, at 930 everyone gathered under the commons tent to play a giant game of bingo, win some prizes, have a bit of fun socializing, what eva. first number is called, "B 13... but hold on for a second, we forgot to introduce EXTREME O.L.'S!!!!"... All of the OL's begin filtering in through the cloth drapery enclosing the tent in some of the wildest get ups.. nearly naked i suppose, artfully tacky. some popular mainstream 'get down and dirty' dance song is played and they take over this small runway set up in the middle of the tent and begin to get jiggy with it. then they take bingo markers and draw all over us, running around being crazy. cant forget the silly string.
to make a long story short, i lasted about 3.5 games and then stripped off my clothes and danced naked... i can honestly say the whole freshman class had stopped playing bingo by about game five and it was just a giant dance party. now, given, there were the typical try to hard girls and the 'i live to bone' guys, but my nakedness did not make me feel in any way objectified or like a... piece of meat. i felt free and awesome and happy.
there was a couples dance off and i participated, but unfortunately my partner SUCKED AT DANCING so we lost. that mother fucker, he kept pushing me around and just wanted to be raunchy, that was not fun, but it was exhilarating [in a way] to be in my undies in front of 400-500 people. I LOVE MICA! It's everything I could have asked for in terms of the social dynamic, and i know this year is going to be very satisfying, and I don't mean in terms of partying, because I'm not really planning on being the drunk as much as i can type.
i hope everyone else who is reading this is having an equally comparable time entering college, that is if you are. otherwise... SUCK IT. jay kay. ...oh god.
