life: give thanks.

I'm here in North Carolina with my dad and his family. I must say that I'm having a very relaxing week off. I think I will be rejuvenated and ready for the next three weeks of school by the time Monday rolls around. I saw Rent yesterday and adored it. We're going again tomorrow and this time my dad is coming with us which is interesting because he doesn't like going to the movies. Ah, the things he does for the children he doesn't see very often!

I am thankful for so many things this year. Around this time last year, I was getting ready to finish up my degree and close the door on my college years. Now, I've taken my teaching class, gotten my first teaching job, and am almost halfway through my first year of teaching. It's amazing really and I'm really proud of myself. So, I'm extremely thankful with the way that part of my life has gone so far. I'm also thankful for all of the family I have in my life. I often find myself annoyed with various parts of my family, but I really am lucky to have so much family that cares about me. I am thankful to be so close to my mother and sister. I'm also thankful to have had these days with a part of my family that I don't spend much time with. It's been a blessing. I'm thankful for all of the material items I've been blessed with in my life because I know that there are people out there who have far less than I do. I'm really a very lucky person. I'm also thankful for my pets, because I adore them all, and for my friends, whether they are work friends, online friends, or some other type of friend! I feel so blessed to have so much in my life and it is good to have a day to really focus on what I have rather than thinking about what I think I need. We all probably need to do more of that type of reflection.

I hope everyone I know had a good, blessed day today and found many things to be thankful for. Happy Thanksgiving!
