If this Earl Cain is going to be such a nuisance, why not simply kill him?

Unfortunately, he' off-limits. He's the Cardmaster's son, and the Cardmaster's made it clear he won't allow any of us to kill him.

How irritatingly political. And I suppose you can't cross this Cardmaster.

No, since he's our leader. I would much rather not deal with whatever consequences he would dole out for that.

Dear me, even worse if you were to get caught.

Indeed. I have no desire to endure that; for now, I'll simply have to keep ahead of Earl Cain. Which, considering his complete lack of subtlety, shouldn't be too hard.

Well, I look forward to perhaps hearing more about that. Interesting about the girl. Loath as I am to ever agree with Stein, he makes a good point there about her.

I do plan on keeping an eye on her, given her extreme change in behavior. At times she goes back to how she was before, so it remains unclear if she will regain her emotions or if this was an isolated incident.

Very wise. Even if it was unexpected, that isn't necessarily a bad thing, of course. It leaves room for further investigation.

I agree that it certainly merits more investigation. Especially when another person's presence seems to be the trigger for it.
