"we are all born insignificant in the face of love." ten years between jongin and soojung.
end story. this was very cathartic to write. i found myself wanting to sob multiple times for them, but i think it's just me. haha.
(
Soojung blinked once, then twice, before she reached forward and kissed him. Jongin kissed her back almost instantly. If this was her answer then he chose to interpret it as yes. It could only be that, he thought, and then she overwhelmed him again. )

the dynamic of jongin and soojung's relationship is so brilliant, and i love it even more that in the description of this fic you wrote "ten years between jongin and soojung". we can see how they grow from the high school kids who don't quite know a thing about the world to adults who are all matured.
like i mentioned in my previous comment, soojung is like a bad habit that jongin can't (and refuses to) grow out of. he knows she's bad for him but at the same time although he keeps wishing she would stop coming he doesn't really want her gone forever. and when she did walk out, seemingly for good, he was thoroughly broken. even with her constant disappearances she has become a part of him so it was so very hard for him to remove her completely. and when he has finally succeeded, or at least he thought he did, she returns and blows everything out of proportion all over again. he hates her for that but mostly he hates himself for still loving her even after everything that's happened. and he hates himself because he truly does love sunyoung too and he knows he can't have them both. it's like if he chooses soojung, he will live in a constant fear that someday she might walk out again, but if he chooses sunyoung, he knows he can be happier but then he fears that he can't give his heart to her 100% because a part of it will always belong to soojung.
that part when jongin sees soojung on her way to return to him, only to discover afterwards that he's no longer there waiting for him, and he goes back to fetch her only to repeat the whole sequence of her leaving and him hurting again later although his main intention of moving out is to move on, and when he waits for her at the office to register their marriage but she never shows up - it just killed me because at that point it seems like jongin is broken beyond repair.
but even though jongin seems like the most pitiful character here, my heart goes out for soojung too. her experiences of people walking out from her life caused her to fear the feeling of being unwanted. she wants to be needed and makes herself believe that her sister needs her. that obsession blinded her from everything else, especially jongin who is the one who truly needs her the most. she lived almost her entire life believing that her sister needs her but when she learns the truth, it feels like her whole life is a lie so she doesn't know what to believe in anymore. she was too preoccupied in chasing after her sister that along the way she lost the person who matters the most.
and of course not forgetting sunyoung! i'm so happy with her character - she's just so cool and mature and smart that i thought i'd be disappointed if jongin decides to leave her. she knows that jongin and soojung's relationship is outside the boundaries and that it's a big risk because she might end up losing jongin if she decides to interfere, but she does anyway because that's how much love she has for him. and she doesn't harbour any hatred towards soojung either although she knows that jongin will probably always love soojung even when he's with her. she not only understands, but accept their relationship as well, and that's not something that anyone can do.
and the last part really made me tear up. i love how you shifted the story to soojung's perspective at the end so we finally knows how she feels. it's sad how the love of her life slipped through her fingers right in front of her eyes and she knows that there's no one to blame but herself. jongin is the real treasure that she noticed too late, and he will always be here biggest regret.
I will always remember that there was a girl in my life that I loved with all my heart
aaahhhh as much as it pains me i honestly love stories like this where people who are destined for each other, are not fated to be together.
oh by the way i love chenyin's kind of cameo here too <3
i hope this comment makes sense sob i read this at 1 am last night and was too incoherent to leave a proper comment right after T__T thank you for writing and sharing this masterpiece ;-; ♥
