I had the worst breakaway at basketball last night. Intercepted a pass near the top of the key in our defensive zone, and drove right up the middle, but then wigged out as I could see out of the corners of both eyes the opponents reaching out for me. Chickened out and stopped short of the lay-up, and turned around only to find a third opponent ( Read more... )

Just go strong for the hoop the next time, and shout "AND ONE!" Works for me.

aww. just one of those days. hugs. :)

If it's any consolation, I think, with my current confidence (or lackof), I wouldn't even be so noble and brave to attempt a breakaway, much less a breakaway lay-up.

In fact, i don't even think I'd be picking up a basketball for a good many years.

Man, I'm damn limp now. (The ingrown nail totally doesn't help. seriously. can't wear track shoes at all for months now.)

Haha, the problem with this particularly breakaways was that there was no reasonable way of getting out of it, especially as at the point I took possession of the ball I was the only person at the top of the court. It would've been a wasted opportunity ... but then I wasted it anyway. crap.

Anyway, no excuse for me, I've been playing semi-regularly since the beginning of the year. I really should have been able to go for it.

You need to do something about that ingrown toenail.. as Darren would've said, cut it off! Cut it all off!!
