honeymoon!

I'm a little bit achy-breaky right now, but we had a fantastic time. It was short and sweet, which is good since school is still on, and three days is just right for doing a relatively strenuous activity.

Tuesday evening we had a volleyball game at 9pm, which was part of the reason we'd originally planned to leave early Wednesday morning to get to Blue Mountain Ski Resort. But with the snowstorm heading this way, we changed our plans, booked the car (a tiny little Yaris; also no snow/winter tires!) for an additional day and a hotel room for the night, and left for Collingwood after the game. The drive to Collingwood was fairly brief, just about two hours. Long enough to feel like we were getting away, short enough that it wasn't exhausting. The roads were empty, and there was no sign of the snowstorm, yet.

Wednesday morning we woke up to about a foot and a half of snow, and it was still coming down. We drove slowly to the ski resort, pushed the car into its snow-filled parking lot in front of our hotel (you'd think they'd plow!), checked in, and immediately headed for the hills.

It was beautiful.

SO MUCH SNOW.

Gorilla in the mist? Super low visibility!

Lumped up powder!
The snow made for some awesome powder. It was the best snowboarding conditions I'd ever had. We were floating on the hills. Apparently we rarely get such good powder here in Ontario, so the storm was a real blessing.

There were outdoor hot-tubs at our hotel! We could just see them from our room.

On Thursday we woke up to this:

A beautiful blue-bird day from our window.

It was really windy, though.

You could see clear right over Georgian Bay.

It was still lumpy powder in the morning, but it was super windy, and a lot of it was being blown off the slopes.

Nothing like a ho-cho at the top of the slopes!

Jeff got one, too! It was COLD!

A beautiful day.
Friday we put in a good day's worth of runs and packed it in by 3pm (we were exhausted!) for the drive back to Toronto.

We checked out some glade runs - had a great time popping in and out of the woods.

Calling it a day!
There are a few more photos here. It's a pity we didn't get more photos of the other things we did, like sitting in the outdoor hot-tubs and our non-fancy dinners, and driving and such, but I guess that's just the way we roll.

We drove by Wasaga Beach to have a closer look at the Bay, but access to the beaches were blocked off by the really high snowdrifts and frozen waves.

Blue Mountain from Wasaga Beach.
We drove back to Richmond Hill and picked Kitty up from the Mays'. And then it was home. It was a wonderful three nights and days.
