King Kong

Last night I actually enjoyed a sci-fi movie. I, normally, do NOT enjoy sci-fi movies. However, I'm starting to notice a trend in my sci-fi enjoyment rating scale. I've noticed that I'm starting to give higher ratings to sci-fi movies with romance in them.

The first sci-fi movie that I ever enjoyed was a movie about a princess and a man-(who captured her heart)- who married despite all of the odds. The sci-fi part had to do with the terror and the horror of an unknown species (like flying dragons or something) that killed people. That's my summation of the movie.

Last night, I watched King Kong on the big screen. It was a marvelous movie! My brother told me that it was classified as a sci-fi movie. I'm not sure if it actually is, but if indeed it is, then I can say that I have enjoyed 3 sci-fi movies in my life time. (I just remembered that I really liked Lord of the Rings, all 3 movies).

If you are a girl and if you don't like some gruesome things, then you might want to close your eyes through some parts of the movie. I had to close my eyes after King Kong bit off the dragon's tongue, and spit it out, because then King Kong tried to (and did, successfully) snapped/broke the dragon's jaw--that was REALLY eike, eww, ouch! It was a "close your eyes Dana!" moment. ugh!

Anyway, I was saddened because King Kong died at the end of the movie. Yeah, it's probably an emotional girl thing. Hey, Ann Darrow cried too! =-)

Anyway, for a sci-fi movie (so I think), I give this one a thumbs up^. I highly recommend it, and that's unusual for me to say about a sci-fi movie. Of course, since I am the one that normally doesn't like sci-fi movies, that might not mean much to people who do like them. However, I do not think that you will be disappointed. There-again, I am NOT a great at critiquing movies, either.
