Um yeah. On second look those are all correct. It looks like some of the territory got stolen by the Republic of Texas, so there are two more states than I originally thought.

Hiya Biz! I just surfed over here because the boys are still asleep, meaning I'm getting more than the average time on the computer this morning.
I saw your logic puzzle.
It was easy to solve - you just hover your mouse over the boxes until the image loads and you can see the ring! Note, that I didn't TOUCH the boxes, so I didn't die! :oP
I'm going to shamelessly steal the puzzle to torment my workmates, which is one of my more pleasurable pastimes.

Huh. I don't have that particular annoyance feature in my browser, so I didn't consider that possibility. I am a little surprised that it worked even with the tinyurl links though. Newfangled technobooby...

Well, to be honest, it dodn't work completely consistently, but critically it DID work for box 8, which is all that matters.
Only one person at work has validly figured it out so far (and this is from a group of about 100 computer people), and several have guessed wrong. I'm discounting the person that solved it in 9 minutes, because he googled the answer.... :o)

Hmmmm. I've just received a response with a different answer, and I can't quickly find a fault in the logic. What do you think?
------------------------
Assume the ring is in the first box, we have (box by box after a few elimination rounds):
Exactly 3 boxes are true - FALSE Exactly 4 boxes are true - FALSE At least 5 boxes are false - FALSE The ring is in a box whose label is true - FALSE The ring is in a box whose label is false - TRUE The box containing the ring is in the first column - TRUE The ring is not in this box - TRUE The ring is not in this box - TRUE You do not need to know the fact that this puzzle is solvable - I assume TRUE, if I needed to know that I wouldn't even start. The questions asks for a subjective response from the individual - this is given. This may change for someone else, but it didn't ask me about them.
5 true responses, 4 false, answer correct and easy to follow.
