Went for a Chinese massage to unfreeze a stiff neck and shoulder, and frustrated the masseur with how knotty the muscle was. She suggested a little
cupping to raise the circulation in the area. I had never tried it before, but after being assured that it wouldn't actually hurt, I thought, "What the hell, I'll give it a whirl."
Didn't expect it to actually help, which it did. And no, it didn't hurt.
What I also didn't expect was for the cups to be left on for a full ten minutes or so. I thought it was a brief, topical application.
Now my shoulders and upper back (as well as the back of my neck) look somewhat like
this. Almost as if I had an altercation with an overly large cephalopod.
..and after finding out that I can expect the marks to take about a week or more to fade, I wrapped a scarf around my shoulders and slunk to work.
I really should have known better.
