First and most importantly:===> If there are one or more people on your friends list who make your world a better place just because they exist, and who you would not have met (in real life or not) without the Internet, then post this same sentence in your journal.
That one is a definite.
And a long delayed set of words for
amarafox:
Australia - The place that rests under my feet. I love the fact that one of the youngest first world nations is set on one of the oldest landmasses on earth. It's so big and so small all at the same time. I don't have to go very far to be in the thick of crowds, and 20 minutes' drive is enough to get me time alone with nobody in sight for miles. Major cities, where you can get a cappuccino at literally any hour of the day or night, and also see living creatures the likes of which exist nowhere else. This juxtaposition of opposites is what keeps my heart singing every time I return.
Murdoch - A pocket university that keeps its head down and simply gets on with turning out some of the finest grads in Asian studies and environmental sciences, on one of the tightest-knit campuses in the state. The sense of community is awesome. I'd love to go back there.
Pretty - A loaded word. Some connotations reek of superficiality, but its connection to surface impressions is, to me, key to its value. Perception of beauty comes, it is true, from a deeper observation. But pretty is what lightens the heart and the load. Pretty is what catches the eye, leading to the chance and inclination toward observation. Pretty is the eddy in the millstream that allows one to fall into the depths.
Healthcare - Important, vital and therefore paradoxically often taken for granted. Mainly due to the long term nature of affect and effect. Nobody spends as much time or money as they should on healthcare. But everybody needs it. I choose healthcare as it's the easiest way I can help the world and society as a whole. After all, I may not be able to make much of a difference on my own, but someone I help to keep alive may be different. If they can grant great benefit, my work has helped.
Traveling - I've done a fair amount of it in my lifetime, this being the third country I've lived in long term. I'm still searching for a heart home, and it will be some years before I find it. This place is almost right for me, but I want to taste more with my eyes. I've barely dipped my toe into Europe, and need to see some other continents before I decide.
